If you want to be part of tomorrow’s health today, we want to hear from you.\nPosition Summary (Purpose of job):\nThe Senior Director, Enterprise Infrastructure Operations is accountable for the stability, performance, security, and cost-effectiveness of all enterprise infrastructure services across on-premises and cloud environments. This role ensures operational excellence forcompute, storage, backup, and cloud-hosted workloads, while leading managed service providers (MSPs) and internal teams to deliver reliable, secure, and compliant services at scale.\nThis leader ownsInfrastructure Operations, ensuring services are resilient, measurable, and continuously improved to meet business and clinical needs.\nKey Responsibilities:\n1.Own End-to-End Infrastructure Operations:\nAccountable for day-to-day operations ofcompute, storage, backup, and cloud infrastructure services.\n\nEnsure high availability, performance, and reliability of all infrastructure platforms supporting business-critical systems.\n\nEstablish and enforce operational standards, procedures, and runbooks.\n\nLead incident, problem, and change management practices with a focus on minimizing business disruption.\n\n2.Drive Operational Excellence & Service Reliability:\nDefine and manage SLAs, SLOs, and KPIs for infrastructure services.\n\nImplement proactive monitoring, alerting, and capacity management across all platforms.\n\nLead root cause analysis andensurepermanent resolution of recurring issues.\n\nContinuously improve operational maturity, automation, and service quality.\n\n3. MSP &PartnerOperational Governance:\nOwn the performance and accountability of Managed Service Providers (MSPs).\n\nEstablish clear operating models, KPIs, and governance cadences with service providers.\n\nEnsure adherence to SLAs, contractual obligations, and service quality expectations.\n\nPartner with Vendor Management Office/ Sourcing &Procurementon renewals, performance management, and cost optimization.\n\n4.Infrastructure Security, Risk & Compliance:\nEnsure infrastructure operations comply with cybersecurity policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.\n\nLead remediation of vulnerabilities, patching compliance, and audit findings.\n\nPartner with Security and Risk teams to strengthen operational resilience and reduce exposure.\n\nMaintain audit readiness across all infrastructure domains.\n\n5.Cloud & Hybrid Workload Operations:\nOversee operational management of workloads across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.\n\nEnsure consistent operational practices across on-prem and cloud platforms.\n\nOptimize cloud operations forperformance,and scalability.\n\nPartner withCloud Platforms and InfrastructureEngineeringteamson transition to operations for newly deployed services.\n\n6.Financial & Capacity Management:\nOwn infrastructure operational budgets, includingpartnersconsumption-based services.\n\nDrive cost optimization initiatives acrosscompute, storage, backup, and cloud.\n\nProvide transparency into cost drivers, forecasting, and allocation.\n\nAlign capacity planning with business demand and growth.\n\n7.Documentation, Observability & Reporting:\nEnsure accurate and up-to-date documentation of infrastructure services, configurations, and dependencies.\n\nDeliver operational dashboards and executive reporting on performance, risks, and trends.\n\nProvide actionable insights on capacity, utilization, and service health.\n\n8.Leadership & Organizational Development:\nBuild and lead a high-performing operations organization, including internal teams and external partners.\n\nDefine clear roles and accountability between internal staff and MSPs.\n\nDevelop leadership capability within the team, particularly in operational discipline and service management.\n\nFoster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.\n\nMinimum Requirements:\nEducation/Training -\nBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or professional certifications in related areas preferred.\n\nCritical Skills:\n12+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure operations, including leadership roles overseeing large-scale, hybrid (on-prem and cloud) environments.\n\nStrong understanding of IT financial management, including budgeting, forecasting,andcost optimization.\n\nBroad knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies, with depth incompute, storage, backup, and cloud platforms, and the ability to govern complex environments.\n\nProven experience managing hybrid and cloud operations (preferably Microsoft Azure), including workload operations, cost control, and performance management.\n\nSolid understanding of infrastructure operations disciplines: monitoring, patching, capacity management, incident/problem/change management.\n\nWorking knowledge of legacy platforms (e.g.IBMi(OS/400) / AS/400 environments) to ensure operational continuity and risk management.\n\nStrong understanding of infrastructure security, risk, and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX, SOC1&2), including audit readiness and vulnerability remediation.\n\nDemonstrated experience in MSP/vendor management, including defining SLAs, driving performance, and holding partners accountable for outcomes.\n\nStrong leadership skills with experience building and leading operations-focused teams, including managing internal staff and external providers.\n\nProven ability to drive operational excellence and service reliability in complex, large-scale environments.\n\nExcellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at executive and operational levels.\n\nExperience leading in highly complex, matrixed organizations, driving alignment across infrastructure, security, and application teams.\n\nStrong knowledge of ITIL / IT Service Management practices (incident, problem, change, service level management).\n\nRelevant certifications (cloud, ITIL, infrastructure technologies) are anasset;emphasis on operational leadership over technical specialization.\n\nWorking Conditions:\nEnvironment (Office)-\nTraditional office environment.\n\nHybrid work type.\n\nPhysical Requirements (Lifting, standing, etc.) -\nLargepercentof time performingcomputer-basedwork is required.\n\nWe are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total Rewards.
