Our Mission is to be the Plant and Industrial supplier who is “easiest to do business with”. We will make it easier to engineer, specify, and order components for plants. We will provide greater support for smoother delivery, cost-effective installation, and start-up. Most importantly, we will build strong relationships with design engineers, contractors, plant operations teams and project owners to assure we are their first-choice supplier for both new construction and future upgrades.\nAt MPI, you will be part of a fast-paced, collaborative, start-up where you can see, firsthand, how your work translates into positive results.\n Position \nMPI Human Resource Generalist\nLocation\nBirmingham, AL (additionally, supports five remote sites)\nPosition Summary\nThe Human Resources Generalist serves as a key member of the McWane Plant & Industrial team, responsible for supporting daily HR operations while administering benefits, coordinating employee lifecycle processes, and leading employee McWane Cultural training. This role blends transactional excellence with culture-building efforts, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and a positive employee experience across the organization. The Human Resource Generalist will be located in the Birmingham main office, but will support locations in California, Texas, Virginia, and Connecticut.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n HR Operations & AdministrationBuild and maintain good inter-departmental and cross-functional working relations ensuring great HR customer service is always being provided.\nPartner with HR Managers and Operational Leadership to handle day-to-day employee concerns and questions.\nIn partnership with HR Managers, the HR Generalist will oversee the annual performance appraisal process ensuring all appraisals are completed, submitted in a timely manner and are receiving necessary manager approvals.\nMaintain accurate and compliant employee records, HRIS systems, and personnel files.\nSupport recruiting processes including job postings, application screening, interview scheduling, and onboarding coordination.\nLead open enrollment training sessions.\nCoach managers, as needed, to resolve conflicts, ensure fairness and accuracy, address attendance violations and unsatisfactory performance.\nSupport the Human Resources Department with day-to-day operations, with special assignments, and other duties as assigned.\nConduct (assist) with investigations regarding employee complaints and/or concerns.\nParticipate in workforce development and external recruiting activities by building relationships with appropriate vendors and attending off-site job fairs.\n\nMcWane Way Training and Employee EngagementCoordinate, schedule and lead McWane Way Training sessions, as needed, for all MPI team members.\nPlan and execute employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and company events.\nAdminister employee appreciation anniversary gift program.\nMaintain employee training and engagement records; ensure all required training for compliance regulations is completed by the set deadline.\nServe as partner in developing other culture initiatives as needed.\n\n Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in related field required; combined experience and education will be considered in lieu of degree.\nMinimum of two (2) years human resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.\nStrong interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.\nAble to present in front of a group of fellow Team Members, including management level.\nHigh level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.\nStrong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.\nExcellent leadership skills and interpersonal skills; professional in appearance and presentation; able to deal with stress and potential conflict situations.\nAbility to maintain composure and handle multiple interruptions while providing excellent client service.\nProficiency with Microsoft applications Word, Excel, and Power Point.\nAbility to maintain strict confidentiality of employee information.\nKnowledge of HR Laws to include FMLA, COBRA, FLSA, etc.\n\n Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience in a Learning and Development role or similar role.\nOne (1) year working knowledge of UltiPro and SmartRecruiters or related HRIS software.\nHR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) is a plus.\n\nPosition Requirements\nExcellent, regular full-time attendance in support of company objectives.\nCommitment to and assurance of personal safety and the safety of all team members.\nUse initiative and judgment in making decisions, keeping with McWane, LLC Code of Conduct and Ethics policy\nStanding and sitting for long periods of time.\nMay have to lift boxes of materials and supplies.\nMust have valid driver license and ability to travel by air.\nMay work in office and/or plant environments with exposure to varying temperature, noise, dust, or other environmental conditions depending on site.\nMinimum of 25% (air/car) travel based on business needs.\n Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
