Will you join us?\n\nWe are recruiting to fill the position below:\n\nJob Title: Laboratory Technician\n\nLocation: Opposite Fire Service Station, Umuahia - Abia\n\nJob type: Full-time (Onsite)\n\nDepartment: Clinic Operations\n\nReports to: Center Manager\n\nRole Objective\n\nCareful, methodical work at this stage is what makes a reliable result possible further down the line. All laboratory ordering, results, and reporting run through BeaconOS, our own platform, which you will be trained on during onboarding.\nThe Laboratory Technician keeps the laboratory running: receiving and preparing specimens, performing routine tests, maintaining reagents and equipment, and supporting the Medical Laboratory Scientist in producing accurate and reliable data.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nReporting to the Center Manager and working under the direction of the Medical Laboratory Scientist, responsibilities include:\n\nSpecimen receipt and preparation:\n\nReceive and process samples and identify their suitability for testing\nPrepare samples for testing using appropriate laboratory equipment\nCoordinate the placing of orders for laboratory inventory supplies\nAssist in mixing buffers required for processing patient specimens\nOrganise and maintain reagents and equipment\n\nRoutine testing:\n\nPerform laboratory testing, including pH measurement and bacterial culturing\nAdhere to correct procedures, policies, and health and safety guidelines\nFollow established methodologies when carrying out routine tasks\nLabel solutions and support the delivery of tests accurately\n\nData and records\n\nSupport the Medical Laboratory Scientist in producing and interpreting reliable data\nGenerate reports of testing results and retrieve results for referring clinicians\nPrepare and maintain accurate laboratory records\nDocument all activities, record results, and enter and retrieve data in BeaconOS\n\nLaboratory environment:\n\nKeep the laboratory clean, organised, and fit for use at all times\nEnsure proper disposal of laboratory waste\nProvide administrative assistance within the laboratory\nPerform maintenance on laboratory equipment and report faults promptly\n\nPatient contact:\n\nWelcome patients warmly during specimen collection and put them at ease\nHandle findings sensitively and never cause a patient unnecessary alarm\nMaintain patient confidence and privacy by keeping laboratory information confidential\n\nRequirements\n\nMinimum of 1 year's experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory\nMethodical, accurate, and able to follow established procedure precisely\nComputer literate and comfortable working in a digital record system — we train every new hire on BeaconOS, our own clinical platform, during onboarding\nCurrent registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) as a technician\nWorking knowledge of specimen handling, laboratory safety, and waste disposal\nOND, HND, or equivalent qualification in Medical Laboratory Science or Laboratory Technology\n\nPreferred:\n\nFamiliarity with quality control routines and equipment calibration\nExperience
