It is a joint venture between ME Elecmetal (a world-renowned supplier of milling solutions from Santiago Chile) and Long Teng Special Steel Co., Ltd (a premium steel products manufacturer based in Jiangsu China). The Company established its subsidiary in Zambia and constructed a world-class forged steel grinding media production plant in Kalumbila.\n\n1. Reporting.\n– This position reports directly to the Senior Procurement Officer of ME Longteng Grinding Media (z) Ltd.\n\n2. Responsibilities\nThe primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:\n\nTo consolidate all user department requirements for goods and services, and prepare an annual procurement plan for goods and services, which will also be updated on a quarterly basis;\n\nReceive procurement requests from user departments and clarify items specification with user department;\n\nPrepare and release requests for quotations in coordination with user departments, and ME LONG TENG policies;\n\nEnsure compliance with procurement procedures as per Procurement Policy\n\nEnsure that a minimum of three independent genuine quotations is obtained.\n\nCall for quotations for any items costing more than a certain amount (as per company policy) and enquire about prices from various suppliers.\n\nEvaluate quotation/bids received and prepare evaluation documentation for procurement files, including recommendation of vendors to user departments and/or\n\nthe Senior Procurement Officer;\n\nEstablish, maintain/manage relationships with suppliers including soliciting and negotiating quotes.\n\nCoordinate technical evaluation for procurements requiring procurement committees\n\nPrepare all vendor contract documents such as Local Purchase Orders (LPO);\n\nEnsure that all approved purchase orders are sent to their respective suppliers/ vendors for delivery purposes daily.\n\nFollow up on ME LONG TENG orders with contracted vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods and services, cultivating vendor relationships and ensuing product availability for user departments;\n\nWork closely with the Finance department to ensure timely payments to vendors for all ME LONG TENG contracts; as necessary escalate any issues that arise to heads of units and/or the Senior Procurement Officer;\n\nObtain written approval for established minimum/maximum stock levels from the warehouse supervisor.\n\nMonitor supplier performance and follow up with vendors on performance issues as needed;\n\nMaintain a comprehensive filing system for auditable records for all procurement documentations;\n\nEnsure that vendor list is updated on a continuous basis.\n\nSourcing for new suppliers to ensure competitiveness is always maintained.\n\n3.
