With the future for innovation in insurance looking more positive than it ever has before, you will be joining us at a moment in time where what we build now will define the next era of insurance operations.\nReports to: Principal Architect\nEmployment Type: Full-Time\nLocation: Bangalore, India\nJob Overview\nWe're looking for an Architect who can wear multiple hats - someone who is as comfortable whiteboarding a system design with leadership as they are reviewing a pull request with engineers. You'll own the technical architecture of our applications, while also acting as the bridge between business needs, product priorities, and engineering execution.\nThis isn't a role for someone who wants to sit purely in PowerPoint decks or purely in code - we need someone who moves fluidly between strategy and hands-on delivery, and who can simplify complex technical and business problems into architecture that scales.\nKey Responsibilities\n Own end-to-end architecture for our web applications - front-end (React.js), back-end (Node.js), APIs, data layer, and cloud infrastructure (AWS).\nDesign for scale and resilience - define architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices across the stack.\nTranslate business requirements into technical solutions - work closely with product, business stakeholders, and delivery teams to convert ideas into buildable, scalable systems.\nBe hands-on when needed - review code, prototype solutions, unblock engineers, and step into implementation for critical or ambiguous problems.\n Drive AWS cloud strategy - architecture for compute, storage, networking, security, and cost optimization (e.g., EC2/ECS/Lambda, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudFront, IAM).\nOwn non-functional requirements - performance, security, scalability, observability, and reliability of the application.\nMentor and guide engineering teams - raise the technical bar, share knowledge, and help developers grow.\nEvaluate and introduce new technologies/tools where they add real value, avoiding complexity for its own sake.\n Create and maintain architecture documentation - system diagrams, design decisions (ADRs), and technical roadmaps.\nParticipate in technical governance - code/design reviews, sprint planning input, and cross-team alignment on architecture standards.\nAct as a connector - between engineering, product, design, and business, ensuring everyone shares a common understanding of the \"why\" behind technical decisions.\nAct as the primary client-facing representative, engaging directly with clients to build strong relationships, lead discussions, and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.\nUnderstand client business challenges, pain points, and requirements by conducting detailed requirement-gathering sessions and translating business needs into actionable solutions.\nProvide proactive solutions and recommendations to address client concerns, manage expectations, and ensure the successful delivery of outcomes that align with client objectives and business goals.\nMust-Have Qualifications\nTechnical Skills\nStrong hands-on experience with React.js (component architecture, state management, performance optimization).\nStrong hands-on experience with Node.js (API design, microservices/monolith trade-offs, async patterns).\nSolid experience architecting and deploying on AWS (compute, storage, networking, security, IAM, CI/CD pipelines).\nGood understanding of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) and data modeling.\nFamiliarity with DevOps practices - CI/CD, containerization (Docker), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation) is a plus.\nUnderstanding of security best practices (authentication, authorization, data protection).\nArchitectural & Business Skills\nAbility to simplify complexity - translate ambiguous business needs into clear technical architecture.\nStrong communication skills - equally comfortable presenting to leadership and pairing with engineers.\nExperience defining architecture principles, standards, and roadmaps rather than just individual solutions.\nA \"multiple hats\" mindset - able to flex between strategist, hands-on builder, mentor, and stakeholder communicator depending on what the moment needs.\nComfortable challenging assumptions and driving sound decision-making across business and technology teams.\nExperience\n8+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in an architect or senior technical leadership role.\nProven experience owning architecture for production applications on the React/Node/AWS stack (or a closely comparable stack).\nExperience working directly with business/product stakeholders to shape technical direction - not just executing requirements handed down.\nMust Have\nDomain: Insurance & Underwriting\nNice-to-Have Skills\nExperience mentoring engineers or leading small technical teams.\nExposure to domain modeling and business capability mapping.\nContinuous learner mindset -
