You’ll own the technical readiness of deployed devices, diagnose problems across hardware and software, and carry issues through to verified resolution.\nScaling robot-learning data requires more than building great devices. It requires making them work reliably across operators, locations, and demanding real-world conditions. You’ll turn hands-on troubleshooting into tools and procedures that let a growing fleet collect more useful data with less downtime.\nWhat You’ll Do\nOwn device issues from the first report through diagnosis, repair or recovery, and verification that the device is ready for use.\n\nTroubleshoot cameras, connected peripherals, Linux software, storage, networking, and data transfers using logs, measurements, and physical testing.\n\nPrepare and validate devices for deployment, including configuration, software updates, recording checks, and inspection after return.\n\nSupport operators and partners with clear technical guidance. Reproduce product defects and work with engineering teams to resolve them.\n\nWrite scripts and troubleshooting procedures that make common problems faster to diagnose and resolve.\n\nTrack recurring failures, verify corrective actions, and improve readiness checks using evidence from the fleet.\n\nWhat You Bring\nMust-have:\n3-4 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting physical devices that combine hardware and software, such as embedded systems, cameras, robotics, or connected equipment.\n\nPractical Linux skills, including command-line tools, logs, processes, services, filesystems, and network diagnostics.\n\nPython or shell scripting skills for diagnostics, device checks, and operational automation.\n\nAbility to isolate faults through repeatable tests and distinguish hardware, software, configuration, and operator issues.\n\nExperience validating device behavior after a repair, configuration change, or software update.\n\nClear communication with technical and nontechnical users, including useful reproduction steps, diagnostic evidence, and instructions.\n\nAbility to prioritize issues by operational impact and follow them through to a verified outcome.\n\nNice-to-have:\nExperience supporting distributed device fleets, remote diagnostics, provisioning, or software updates.\n\nExperience diagnosing recording problems such as dropped frames, corrupted files, synchronization errors, or incomplete transfers.\n\nExperience with electronics troubleshooting, component replacement, or repair qualification.\n\nA Note on Applying\nStudies show women and candidates from underrepresented groups often only apply when they meet 100% of the listed qualifications, while others apply after meeting 60%. If you don't check every box above but believe you can do the job, we encourage you to apply - we're looking for capability and trajectory, not a perfect checklist match.\nInclusive Hiring at Mecka\nWe are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive candidate experience. Should you require any accommodation whatsoever during the interview process, please inform us without any hesitation. Mecka is dedicated to ensuring equal treatment and opportunity in all phases of recruitment, selection, and employment, in compliance with employment law. We do not discriminate based on gender, race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, veteran or military status, or any other protected category. Mecka is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, fostering a culture of inclusivity and maintaining a work environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.\nUse of Artificial Intelligence in Recruitment\nMecka uses artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly to support administrative and efficiency-focused aspects of our recruitment process. This includes activities such as drafting job descriptions, generating interview questions, note-taking and recordings, and supporting sourcing and scheduling workflows. All candidate evaluations, interviews, and hiring decisions are made by members of the Mecka team. While AI tools may assist with screening and assessment, they do not replace human judgment in selection decisions. Our use of AI is intended to streamline routine tasks, improve consistency, and enhance the overall candidate experience. We are committed to upholding principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability in all hiring activities. Mecka regularly reviews its recruitment practices to mitigate bias and to ensure alignment with applicable laws and evolving best practices.","description_format":"text","description_chars":5081,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":3,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"},{"name":"Canada","iso":"CA","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["AI Training Data & Annotation","Synthetic Data"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-15T17:25:34Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":63,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.632,"p_room":1,"age_days":3,"expected_fill_days":44,"reasons":["conf:3","stale_co","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-19T05:45:15Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":109649,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/mecka-capture-device-operations-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/mecka-capture-device-operations-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-20T03:43:25Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":4145,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-21T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":678757},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=678757"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fmecka-capture-device-operations-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fmecka-capture-device-operations-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fmecka-capture-device-operations-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/mecka-capture-device-operations-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fmecka-capture-device-operations-engineer"}]}
