As we scale, we are building the infrastructure to automate how payments, payouts, revenue, and financial data move through the company.\nIn this role, you will build and own Mecka's payments and revenue infrastructure, including global payouts, payment orchestration, provider integrations, reconciliation, invoicing, revenue recognition, and internal finance tooling. You will partner closely with finance and operations to replace manual workflows with reliable, scalable, and auditable systems.\nWhat You Will Do\nPayments infrastructure: Design, build, and operate backend systems that schedule, validate, route, send, and track global payments and payouts across multiple providers, currencies, and banking rails.\nPayment integrations: Build and maintain integrations with payment platforms, banks, payroll providers, and financial systems, handling APIs, webhooks, rate limits, retries, settlement, and failure modes.\nReconciliation: Automate reconciliation across payouts, invoices, operational records, bank transactions, and accounting systems, ensuring every movement of money is traceable and discrepancies surface quickly.\nRevenue infrastructure: Build systems supporting invoicing, billing, collections, payment tracking, and revenue reconciliation, creating reliable connections between operational and financial data.\nRevenue recognition: Partner with finance to translate contract terms, delivery milestones, usage data, and billing events into automated revenue recognition workflows, including unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, accruals, and accounting-system entries.\nReliability: Design money movement and financial workflows around idempotency, transaction integrity, observability, audit trails, permissions, and safe recovery from partial or failed transactions.\nAutomation: Partner with finance and operations to identify manual, spreadsheet-heavy workflows and turn them into scalable internal tools and automated processes.\nWhat you bring:\nExperience: 3-5 years of backend development experience with a focus on payment systems, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure.\nComputer science: Strong computer science fundamentals with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similarly rigorous technical discipline strongly preferred.\nBackend engineering: Strong experience building production backend and distributed systems where correctness, reliability, and data integrity are critical.\nHigh-concurrency systems: Strong programming experience building and managing high-concurrency, complex business systems and services.\nProgramming languages: Proficiency in at least one backend language, including C++, Java, Go, Python, or Shell.\nPayments: Experience with payments, billing, fintech, marketplaces, banking infrastructure, or other high-volume transactional systems.\nSystems design: Strong understanding of APIs, databases, concurrency, idempotency, retries, transaction boundaries, event-driven systems, and reconciliation.\nOwnership: Experience owning critical systems in production, including monitoring, incident response, debugging, and root-cause remediation.\nEven better if you have:\nIndustry: Experience at a leading fintech or payments company such as Stripe, Coinbase, Block, Adyen, Plaid, Brex, Ramp, Wise, or a similarly complex financial platform.\nLarge-scale B2C: Experience at a high-volume consumer or marketplace platform such as Uber, Airbnb,\nDoorDash, Shopify, or similar, particularly working on payments, payouts, billing, or transaction infrastructure.\nFinancial systems: Experience building wallets, ledgers, payout systems, payment orchestration, billing\ninfrastructure, reconciliation engines, or financial data platforms.\nRevenue systems: Experience building billing, invoicing, usage-based revenue, revenue recognition, or order-to-cash systems that connect operational data with accounting systems.\nGlobal payments: Familiarity with cross-border payments, FX, multi-currency settlement, local payment rails, and payment infrastructure across multiple entities and jurisdictions.\nFinance workflows: Familiarity with accounting concepts and systems, including double-entry accounting, revenue recognition, accrued/unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, AP/AR, clearing accounts, invoicing, settlement, and financial reconciliation\nA Note on Applying\nStudies show women and candidates from underrepresented groups often only apply when they meet 100% of the listed qualifications, while others apply after meeting 60%.
