Reporting to the General Manager, the role supports effective service delivery, staff development, and alignment with organizational policies and priorities.\nKey accountabilities include staff and service improvement, facility maintenance, Medical First Responder programs, occupational health and safety, and operational policy development. The manager also promotes a culture of patient and workplace safety across IEMS.\nAs an employee of IEMS, we are accountable to our patients and coworkers by participating in and supporting all safety related initiatives, as well as acting in a manner that fosters a culture that focuses on patient safety and a safe workplace.\nThe position entails, but is not limited to the following:\nOngoing management and oversight of western operations and staff (Alberton, O’Leary and Summerside bases);\n\nOngoing facility management and oversight of all IEMS facilities which includes working with employees, Duty SOPs, management and fleet staff to identify and address any issues;\n\nManage employee and labour issues with utmost confidentiality, empathy, and respect;\n\nPrepare and distribute operational or facility updates and memos to all staff;\n\nDemonstrate superior conflict resolutions skills by balancing assertiveness, sensitivity and successfully mediating conflicts will be a key skill you will possess;\n\nResponsible for the safety and well-being of staff and the public ensuring that all regulations, guidelines, and legislation are followed;\n\nProvide support and oversight to the Provincial MFR Coordinator;\n\nResponsible for conducting investigations into any complaints or inquiries brought forward;\n\nInvolved in the decision making of recruitment processes and candidate selection as well as other Human Resources recruitment functions;\n\nWorking with the communications team for public information releases, serving as a representative of Island EMS at community, stakeholder or municipal meetings when required;\n\nProvides clinical support as well as coaching by attending scenes when required;\n\nThis position may require working on the ambulance in emergencies to retain professional skills as a paramedic;\n\nEnsure overall responsibility and accountability of all aspects of the deployment and utilization of Paramedic resources, operational policies, and resources to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of the service provided;\n\nProvide on scene coordination for major incidents, coordinate contingency and disaster management process;\n\nProvide coverage and support for the General Manager as required;\n\nTravel within the region is required; and\n\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nAs the ideal candidate for this role, you possess the following:\nCurrently registered in good standing, or eligible for registration, as a Paramedic (PCP, ICP or ACP) in the province of Prince Edward Island;\n\nPossess a minimum of five years’ experience working as a paramedic which could include experience in a progressively responsible leadership role;\n\nIdeally would have proven experience in EMS leadership, information technology, finance, and human resources;\n\nDemonstrated leadership abilities with a proven track record for inspiring and motivating others;\n\nAre committed to providing stellar levels of customer/patient service;\n\nUse a positive and creative approach to problem solving;\n\nPossess outstanding communication, negotiating, and dispute resolution skills;\n\nHave working knowledge of standard business computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite);\n\nPossess a valid Class 4 driver’s license in good standing in Prince Edward Island (or equivalent);\n\nIncident Command Systems and basic Emergency Management training are assets;\n\nAdditional disaster management training essential (or willingness to complete) is an asset; and\n\nA post-secondary education in Health, Paramedicine, Business Administration, or related field is an asset;\n\nKnowledge or Skills Required:\nThorough working knowledge of paramedic scope of practice;\n\nShould have thorough knowledge of and assist in the development of the System Status Plan;\n\nSkilled in leading and developing staff;\n\nAble to work both independently and as part of a team;\n\nAbility to exercise independent judgement and strategize in a dynamic work environment while using positive and creative approaches to problem-solving;\n\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with people and working in teams;\n\nOutstanding communication, delegating, negotiating, and conflict resolution skills;\n\nEffective oral and written communications;\n\nStrong working knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office host of programs and typing;\n\nEmotional stability, good dexterity, good general health and physical coordination;\n\nStrong analytical, problem solving and organizational abilities;\n\nRegular business hours required, but some irregular hours can be expected.\nCompensation:\nSalary Range for this position is $95,000- $105,000 annually.\nIsland EMS offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including, but not limited to, health, dental, long term disability coverage, life insurance, pension contributions and extended health benefits to eligible employees.\nDeadline for application submission is September 27, 2026 at 11:59 PM.\nPlease submit a cover letter, resume and any additional documents required with your Workday application.\nOnly those selected for an interview will be contacted.\n*\nThe Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training.
