In this role, you will assist optometrists with vision exams and eye health assessments for patients in skilled nursing and long-term care facilities. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with clinical providers while supporting the early detection and management of vision conditions in a geriatric population.\nResponsibilities\nAssist optometrists with comprehensive eye exams and vision testing\nPerform preliminary testing, including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and autorefractor measurements\nPrepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort\nAdminister basic diagnostic tests such as visual field testing and retinal imaging\nAccurately document patient history, test results, and clinical findings\nMaintain and clean ophthalmic equipment in compliance with safety and infection control standards\nSupport eyeglass fittings, adjustments, and patient education as needed\nCollaborate with optometrists, advanced practice providers, and facility staff\nTravel to skilled nursing and long-term care facilities as assigned\nRequirements\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required\nCompletion of an Optometric Technician or Ophthalmic Technician training program preferred\nCertification (e.g., CPO, ABO) preferred but not required\nPrior experience in optometry or ophthalmology strongly preferred\nExperience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings a plus\nStrong attention to detail and technical proficiency\nExcellent communication and patient-care skills\nComfortable working with the geriatric population\nProlonged standing/walking. Assisting with patient positioning. Operating diagnostic equipment.
