The successful candidate will support European VAT compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions, leveraging VAT compliance software and ERP systems to ensure accurate, timely, and SOX-compliant indirect tax reporting.The role will work closely with the EMEA Tax Team, Finance Controllers, IT, and external advisors to support VAT return preparation, reconciliations, data validation, process standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives within a centralized European VAT compliance model. The position is suited for candidates with experience in indirect tax compliance, tax technology solutions (e.g., Vertex, Thomson Reuters, Avalara), and internal control environments\nJob Description\nActivities & Responsibilities\nPrepare and support the review of VAT returns, EC Sales Lists (ESL), Intrastat declarations, and other indirect tax filings across multiple European jurisdictions.\nPerform VAT reconciliations between ERP systems, VAT compliance software, and general ledger balances.\nMonitor filing calendars and ensure timely completion of compliance obligations.\nAssist with VAT registrations, deregistrations, and maintenance of tax authority records.\nOperate and maintain VAT compliance software, including periodic data uploads, validations, and return generation.\nPerform data quality reviews and transaction-level validations.\nInvestigate and resolve VAT reporting discrepancies and system exceptions.\nSupport system enhancements, testing activities, and implementation of new VAT compliance technologies.\nParticipate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and process improvement initiatives.\nExecute key controls within the European VAT compliance framework.\nMaintain evidence supporting SOX control performance and audit requirements.\nPerform documented reconciliations and review procedures in accordance with internal control standards.\nAnalyze VAT trends, variances, and anomalies.\nPrepare monthly compliance and KPI reporting for management.\nReview transactional data and tax determination outcomes.\nSupport root cause analysis of VAT issues and recommend corrective actions.\nJob Requirements\nBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Commerce, or related field.\n3-6 years of experience in VAT/GST/indirect tax compliance.\nExperience supporting European VAT compliance activities.\nPrevious experience with VAT compliance software is a must.\nStrong understanding of VAT return preparation, reconciliations, and compliance processes.\nExperience working in multinational or shared service environments.\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills.\nKnowledge of ERP systems (QAD/SAP/Oracle).\nAbility to operate in a fast-changing, high-demand environment.\nExcellent English language skills, another European language (preferably French or German) would be a plus.\nundefined \nAbout Medline India:\nMedline India was setup in 2010 in Pune, primarily as an offshore Development centre and to augment resources for Medline Industries LP headquartered in Chicago, USA.
