By focusing on non-invasive, real-time technologies, they empower clinicians with actionable insights in surgery, critical care, and other high-risk settings.\nA Day in The Life Of:\nAs an Embedded Software Engineer II, you will contribute to the development of embedded software platforms for physiological monitoring solutions that provide clinicians with meaningful insights and support Medtronic’s Mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. Your work will span the product lifecycle, from early-stage technical evaluation through feature development, product enhancements, and sustainment. You will work independently, with general supervision, on defined and moderately complex assignments while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across different countries.\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain embedded software.\nDevelop proof-of-concept solutions to evaluate new ideas and technologies.\nContribute to modular software design and broader technical discussions.\nParticipate in code reviews and software testing activities.\nInvestigate software issues and implement appropriate solutions.\nCreate and maintain software requirements, design documentation, test records, and other development records.\nContribute to software risk analysis and the implementation of risk-control measures.\nKey Skills & Experience\nBasic Qualifications\nLevel 8 degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 0 years relevant experience.\nPractical programming experience in embedded C and/or C++.\nExperience developing and testing software for resource-constrained microcontrollers.\nExperience developing software for bare-metal and/or RTOS-based embedded systems.\nExperience working with one or more embedded interfaces and peripherals, such as UART, SPI, I²C, ADC, and PWM.\nExperience debugging embedded software using hardware and software debugging tools.\nUnderstanding of software-development practices, including modular design, source control, code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing.\nAbility to work independently, with general supervision, on defined and moderately complex software assignments.\nAbility to communicate clearly and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.\nNice to Have:\nExperience developing embedded software using STM32 or a comparable microcontroller platform.\nExperience developing embedded software using an RTOS such as ThreadX, FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or a comparable RTOS.\nExperience with unit testing, including the use of test frameworks and mocks, or with static-analysis and automated-testing tools.\nExposure to CI/CD practices for embedded software development.\nExperience developing and debugging software for prototype or early-stage hardware.\nExperience working in a regulated software-development environment, preferably within the medical-device industry.\nFamiliarity with IEC 62304, software risk-management practices, or traceability between requirements, implementation, and verification evidence.\nExperience developing Python-based tools for testing, automation, diagnostics, or data analysis.\nMedtronic offer a competitive salary and flexible Benefits Package\nPhysical Job Requirements\nThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position.\nRecruitment Fraud Alert\nWe are aware of phishing scams targeting job seekers.
