SGP/MYS), regional, and global controllership as well as other global finance functions\nOther Medtronic internal and external stakeholders\nAs the Financial Controller, you will provide leadership and oversight for financial reporting and internal controls, internal & statutory audits, finance policy and tax compliance for Medtronic SEA countries (excl. SGP/MYS) across Operator, Steward, Catalyst, and Strategist areas of responsibility\nKey responsibilities, exposure and career prospects\n1. Operator:\nDeliver financial closing and reporting in compliance with US GAAP and in scope countries’ statutory financial standards\n\nReview and sign off balance sheet account reconciliations and attest balance sheet controls\n\nEnsure timely statutory and regulatory reporting, including audits and tax filings\n\nLead and provide accounting services across value-streams to business areas with support from shared services center and BPO\n\nProvide oversight and collaborate with Treasury functions for local entity banking, funding, and foreign exchange management\n\nProvide oversight and collaborate with Tax functions for local entity corporate tax, indirect tax, transfer price tax etc. areas of compliance\n\nProvide oversight and collaborate with Credit functions for credit and collections\n\n2. Steward:\nBe the finance owner of company finance policy and internal controls\n\nImplement and oversee SOX control framework and deliverables\n\nBe the finance owner of statutory financial control compliance with regards to in scope countries’ Company Act and internal Audit/Internal Control requirements\n\nProvide fiduciary oversight for the in scope countries’ legal entity, in support of the local entity board of directors, working closely with the company secretary function and legal function\n\nBe an active gatekeeper to provide oversight on company assets.\n\nDrive and support internal audit corrective and preventive actions\n\n3. Catalyst / Strategist:\nSupport in scope country initiatives ensuring sound accounting and tax compliance advice to achieve business results the right way\n\nSupport global finance and accounting initiatives including new accounting standards implementation\n\nDeliver continuous process improvements and best practices across accounting value streams, leveraging shared services center and BPO support\n\nParticipate in cross functional initiatives with a focus on improving the control environment, collaborating with other finance functions (business finance, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Credit) and other support functions (Pricing, Indirect Sourcing, Legal, Compliance, Channel, Regulatory etc.)\n\nIdentify and contribute to working capital and free cashflow improvements\n\nProactively involved in business planning and legal/compliance reviews to identify, assess and address controllership, financial & tax risks\n\nLead and develop a high performing and inclusive team recognized by functional colleagues and stakeholders\n\nBe a role model in supporting and driving inclusion, diversity, equity and ethics initiatives\n\nRequired knowledge, experience and educational level\nRequired\nUniversity degree in accounting or finance or relevant discipline\n\nAccounting qualification (e.g. CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA etc)\n\nProgressive track record with 12+ years working experience with MNCs, minimum 5 years+ experience in SEA countries (excl. SGP/MYS)\n\n3-5 years+ people manager experience preferred\n\nExtensive knowledge about financial and management accounting.
