The Neuroscience Mechanical Engineering team partners with global stakeholders to design, develop, optimize, and sustain medical device products throughout the product lifecycle. The team supports a broad Neuroscience portfolio including spinal implants and instrumentation, electrosurgical devices, enabling technologies, and associated capital equipment, supporting product development, sustaining engineering, design optimization, risk management, design verification, and lifecycle management activities while ensuring compliance with applicable medical device quality and regulatory requirements.This Engineering Manager position will lead the CST Mechanical Engineering team supporting the Neuroscience portfolio. The role is responsible for people leadership, technical and project oversight, resource planning, capability development, and delivery of product development and sustaining engineering initiatives. The manager will collaborate with global business and cross-functional partners to align priorities, strengthen engineering ownership, and ensure predictable delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nLead a team of mechanical engineers supporting product development and sustaining engineering across the neuroscience portfolio\nSet team priorities, define responsibilities, and ensure clear accountability\nAlign resources to portfolio needs and changing business priorities\nOversee execution of multiple engineering projects against scope, schedule, quality, cost, and technical goals\nProvide technical leadership in mechanical design, analysis, verification, validation, documentation, and product release activities\nEnsure compliance with design controls, quality system requirements, and applicable medical device regulations\nSupport risk management activities, including DFMEA and other design risk assessments\nBuild team capability in mechanical design, engineering analysis, design controls, and medical device lifecycle processes\nRecruit, coach, mentor, and develop engineering talent\nFoster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable team environment\nCommunicate progress, risks, resource needs, and business impact to leadership and stakeholders\nSupport continuous improvement in engineering practices, execution, and knowledge sharing\nPartner with global and cross-functional teams to deliver portfolio objectives\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or B.E./B.Tech in a related engineering discipline\n15+ years of relevant engineering experience\n5+ years of people management experience\nAbility to manage and develop teams of approximately 15 to 20 members\nStrong background in mechanical product development and sustaining engineering\nExperience in a regulated product development environment\nProven ability to lead engineering teams and manage multiple priorities\nStrong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design, materials, manufacturing processes, tolerance analysis, and engineering documentation\nExperience with design controls, engineering change management, and product lifecycle processes\nKnowledge of risk management practices such as DFMEA\nExperience working with cross-functional teams across engineering, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, operations, or program management\nStrong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills\nWillingness to travel as required\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience in the medical device industry\nFEA and simulation experience\nExperience supporting multiple product lines or portfolios\nExperience managing principal-level engineers or technical leaders\nExperience with CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, or similar platforms\nExperience with PLM tools and engineering change systems\nExperience in design verification, validation, and lifecycle management\nExposure to spinal implants and instrumentation, electrosurgical devices, or related capital equipment\nExperience leading distributed or global teams\nPhysical Job Requirements\nThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position.\nRecruitment Fraud Alert\nWe are aware of phishing scams targeting job seekers.
