You will lead the design, development, verification, and continuous improvement of software solutions while driving engineering excellence, mentoring software engineers, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver compliant, high-quality products that support cardiac care technologies.\nThis Principal Software Engineer role will contribute to the design and delivery of software solutions that support critical cardiac care technologies at global scale.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign, develop, and test software for medical devices in compliance with software development standards,.\n\nLead project planning activities, including scope definition, effort estimation, technical execution, and delivery commitments for complex software initiatives\n\nProvide technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices to junior and senior software engineers\n\nCollaborate with product engineering, software test, systems, and architecture teams to define and deliver technical solutions.\n\nConduct technical reviews of requirements, specifications, architecture, design documentation, source code, and other engineering deliverables.\n\nDrive process improvement initiatives that enhance software quality, development efficiency, compliance, and team effectiveness\n\nDevelop reusable frameworks, design patterns, and engineering approaches that increase team velocity and long-term maintainability\n\nPartner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high quality software products.\n\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree (Level 8) in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline and a minimum of 7 years of relevant software engineering experience; or an advanced degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant software engineering experience.\n\nExperience designing, developing, and verifying software using established software development lifecycle processes.\n\nExperience with Agile software development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD).\n\nExpertise in at least two of the following technologies: XML, C++, Java, JavaScript, C#, .NET, Python, or HTML.\n\nExperience participating in software design, technical review, code review, and software verification activities.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience developing software for medical devices.\n\nKnowledge of medical device software standards and regulatory expectations,including IEC 62304.\n\nExperience leading software engineering teams through technical mentoring, coaching, and engineering best-practice adoption.\n\nExperience working within cross-functional product development environments involving product, systems, architecture, and test engineering teams.\n\nExperience developing reusable software frameworks, components, or design patterns that improve engineering efficiency and software quality.\n\nMedtronic offer a competitive salary and flexible Benefits Package.\nWe support a hybrid work model.
