A Day in the Life
Patient Care Systems develops the connected software ecosystem supporting Medtronic implantable cardiac devices. The portfolio includes secure device connectivity, clinical applications, patient-facing experiences and data platforms that help clinicians monitor and manage patients living with cardiac devices.This position is based at the Parkmore Campus in Galway, Ireland, and follows a hybrid work model.
As a Software Test Engineer II, you will verify software across the Patient Care Systems ecosystem supporting implantable cardiac devices. You will develop automated testing solutions, contribute throughout the software development lifecycle and collaborate with software engineering, research and development, and quality partners to improve product quality and delivery in a regulated medical device environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automated test tools and frameworks for software verification.
- Build and expand system-level automated testing across application, mobile, connectivity and integrated software.
- Integrate automated tests into continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Execute system integration and risk-based testing to verify software functionality, reliability and performance.
- Configure, validate and maintain test infrastructure and environments.
- Generate test evidence and documentation that supports quality and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate test failures, identify root causes and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve defects.
- Contribute to automation strategy, tooling decisions and software testing best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science, and 2+ years of relevant software testing or test automation experience.
- Hands-on experience developing automated tests using Appium, Selenium or comparable test automation frameworks.
- Programming experience in at least one of the following languages: Java, C#, JavaScript or Python.
- Experience integrating automated tests into continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing mobile applications on Android and iOS platforms.
- Experience with system-level or integration testing across application, network, mobile, Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy software.
- Experience working in a regulated medical device, healthcare or other regulated product-development environment.
- Experience with healthcare data, data privacy, data analytics or business intelligence.
- Experience using artificial intelligence-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, for coding, refactoring, test automation or troubleshooting.
