Medtronic is a global leader in healthcare technology with a Mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. Our 95,000 employees work across more than 150 countries to put patients first - developing innovative medical technologies that improve the lives of 72+ million patients each year. Your unique talents will help shape the future of healthcare while building a career grounded in purpose, growth, and impact.\nA Day in the Life\nThe Physiological Sensing R&D team develops technologies that measure and interpret physiological signals to improve patient outcomes. Our portfolio includes anesthesia and depth-of-sedation monitoring, respiratory monitoring, pulse oximetry, regional oximetry, EEG-based devices, and clinical decision-support solutions. We are seeking a hands-on Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to develop electronic hardware for medical devices and physiological monitoring products.\nYou will take technical ownership of complex electronics across the full product lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through circuit design, PCB layout, prototype bring-up, verification, manufacturing release, and lifecycle support.\nThis is an end-to-end hardware development role requiring the ability to personally deliver safe, reliable, testable, and manufacturable PCB assemblies while providing technical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nDesign analog, digital, power, sensor-interface, and mixed-signal electronics for medical products and physiological monitoring systems.\n\nOwn complete PCB and PCBA development, including requirements, schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, design review, prototype bring-up, verification, manufacturing release, and lifecycle support.\n\nPersonally perform multilayer PCB stack-up definition, component placement, routing, grounding, shielding, power distribution, electrical isolation, controlled-impedance design, and thermal implementation.\n\nPerform circuit simulation, tolerance and worst-case analysis, component derating, and design-margin assessment to demonstrate design robustness.\n\nApply signal-integrity, power-integrity, EMC, ESD, electrical-safety, DFM, DFA, and DFT principles to achieve reliable, manufacturable, and testable designs.\n\nCreate and verify ECAD libraries, bills of materials, fabrication and assembly drawings, and complete manufacturing-output packages.\n\nLead prototype bring-up, electrical characterization, systematic debugging, failure analysis, and root-cause investigation using appropriate laboratory equipment.\n\nDevelop hardware test cases, fixtures, and automated laboratory tests using Python and/or LabVIEW, including instrument control, data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.\n\nDevelop verification protocols, acceptance criteria, and test reports traceable to hardware requirements and risk controls.\n\nDevelop medical-device electronics in accordance with applicable IEC 60601 requirements, particularly IEC 60601-1 for basic safety and essential performance and IEC 60601-1-2 for electromagnetic compatibility.\n\nContribute to design controls, requirements traceability, design FMEA, fault analysis, risk-control implementation, and risk-control verification.\n\nSupport prototype builds, manufacturing transfer, production testing, yield improvement, component obsolescence, second-source qualification, and controlled design changes.\n\nCollaborate with systems, software, algorithms, mechanical, test, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, and sourcing teams to resolve complex product-development challenges.\n\nLead technical reviews, communicate evidence-based recommendations, drive design improvements, and mentor less-experienced engineers.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree or higher in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, with typically 5 or more years of relevant product-development experience.\n\nStrong hands-on experience in analog, digital, power, sensor-interface, and mixed-signal circuit design.\n\nProven ability to independently deliver complete PCBAs from requirements and schematic capture through PCB placement, routing, bring-up, verification, and manufacturing release.\n\nProficiency with a professional ECAD platform, preferably Altium Designer, including schematic design, PCB layout, library management, design-rule configuration, and manufacturing-output generation.\n\nStrong practical knowledge of multilayer PCB design, signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, shielding, controlled impedance, EMC, ESD, electrical isolation, creepage, clearance, and thermal design.\n\nPractical medical-device development experience with IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2, including electrical safety, essential performance, EMC, and associated verification activities.\n\nHands-on experience with Python and/or LabVIEW for hardware test automation, instrument control, data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.\n\nStrong laboratory capability in prototype bring-up, electrical characterization, systematic debugging, failure analysis, and root-cause investigation.\n\nAbility to resolve complex multidisciplinary problems, communicate technical risks and trade-offs, lead hardware work packages, and mentor other engineers.\n\nExperience with physiological monitoring, pulse oximetry, regional oximetry, EEG-based devices, respiratory monitoring, optical sensing, biopotential acquisition, low-noise analog front ends, photodiode\n\nPhysical Job Requirements\nThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position.\nRecruitment Fraud Alert\nWe are aware of phishing scams targeting job seekers.
