Software Architect

As an architect-demand org, you are the technical compass guiding how our pre-purchase systems evolve. You'll ensure we're building future-ready, cost-conscious, and adaptable architectures that deliver a seamless shopping experience while enabling rapid iteration for business growth. You'll work across multiple charters, from discovery frameworks to decision-support features to growth experimentation platforms, aligning teams on principles, patterns, and trade-offs. You lead through influence, not hierarchy. You create momentum without needing a mandate. shaping technical direction, mentoring senior engineers, and ensuring our platforms are coherent, scalable, and AI-first.

A typical day could involve:

• Reviewing a new experimentation framework to ensure it scales across surfaces.
• Helping a team decide between event-driven and request-driven approaches for a decisioning service.
• Identifying cross-team technical debt and aligning on a fix.
• Exploring how GenAI can accelerate product discovery or improve developer velocity.
• Deep diving into a critical latency issue on the homepage feed.
• Defining architectural guardrails for multi-year growth initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Own the technical architecture vision for the demand org spanning discovery, decision-to-buy, and growth systems.
• Partner with engineering and product leadership to shape long-term platform roadmaps that balance innovation, cost efficiency, and adaptability.
• Establish architecture patterns, frameworks, and standards for scalability, reliability, and AI integration.
• Ensure systems support rapid experimentation, enabling product teams to validate ideas at scale without stability risk.
• Drive performance optimisation and cost-efficiency across the demand funnel.
• Conduct architecture reviews and guide teams through complex trade-offs.
• Mentor senior engineers and tech leads, building great architectural skills across the org.
• Stay ahead of emerging tech trends and bring the best of them into Meesho's demand stack.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in software engineering, with proven experience in architecting large-scale distributed systems in consumer internet or commerce.
• Expertise in low-latency, high-throughput architectures and cost-optimised designs.
• Strong understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL), streaming/event-driven systems, and cloud-native platforms.
• Experience designing multi-surface, multi-level platforms (e. g., experimentation frameworks, decisioning systems, content delivery, and personalisation layers).
• Familiarity with integrating AI/ML systems into large-scale platforms.
• Breadth-depth versatility: can go deep into a single service bottleneck or zoom out to cross-org architecture.
• Excellent collaboration and influence skills across product, engineering, and data teams.
• A bias for future-proof design, anticipating change without over-engineering.
