At Meliora Academy, we provide individualized education for students with autism and related challenges, focusing on academics, life skills, and independence. As a Speech Language Pathologist at Meliora Academy, you'll provide individualized speech, language, communication, and feeding services to students ages three to 22. You’ll collaborate with families and multidisciplinary team members to help neurodiverse students strengthen their functional communication skills, access appropriate AAC supports, and make meaningful progress across school, community, and vocational settings.

What You'll Need

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology

  • Connecticut State Department of Education 061 Certification and Department of Public Health licensure

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).

  • Experience supporting neurodiverse students, including strong knowledge of AAC, feeding skills, and total communication approaches

  • Current Safety-Care, First Aid, and CPR certifications, with the ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 60 pounds

What You'll Do

  • Screen and assess students’ receptive language, expressive language, speech production, oral-motor, feeding, and functional communication skills using appropriate evidence-based measures

  • Collaborate with the AT Coordinator to select, customize, program, and recommend AAC systems based on each student’s individual needs

  • Develop and deliver research-based therapy services for students individually and in small groups across school, community, and vocational settings

  • Create assessment reports, IEP goals, annual performance reports, progress updates, and service documentation while meeting all CT-SEDS and school deadlines

  • Partner with families, educators, the feeding team, and other multidisciplinary professionals while participating in CST meetings and supervising SLPAs or Clinical Fellows as needed
