This role sets priorities, coordinates resources, and leads staff to ensure consistent, high-quality arboricultural work aligned with operational standards and long-term management goals. Maintaining a strong presence in the field, the Arboriculture Supervisor supports daily operations, reinforces expectations, and ensures alignment across crews while balancing planning, team leadership, and resource coordination.\nThis role reports to the Conservation Manager.\nWork Location: On-site at Memorial Park \nSchedule: Monday-Friday at 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM; occasional evenings and weekends required based on operational needs (seasonal adjustments may apply) \nEmployment Status: Full-Time \nFLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried) \nBenefits: Full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental, and vision coverage; paid time off; short- and long-term disability; and 401(k) retirement plan. Part-time employees are not eligible for benefits. \nKey Responsibilities\nOperational Leadership & Execution\nPlan, prioritize, and oversee arboriculture work across assigned areas. \nOversee and support implementation of arboricultural practices including tree risk mitigation, plant health care, structural pruning, irrigation oversight, and integrated pest management. \nEvaluate tree health, structural risk, and site conditions to inform prioritization and operational decisions. \nEnsure consistency in work quality, execution standards, and field practices across crews. \nAdjust work plans in response to field conditions, weather, and operational priorities. \nEnsure accurate documentation of maintenance, inspections, and tree assessments using established work order and tracking systems. \nStaff Leadership & Development\nSupervise Coordinators and Technicians, setting clear expectations for performance, accountability, and daily execution. \nProvide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development. \nCoordinate staffing schedules and review timesheets. \nAddress performance matters in coordination with leadership. \nSupport hiring, onboarding, and training of staff. \nPlanning & Resource Coordination\nDevelop weekly and seasonal work plans aligned with operational priorities. \nAllocate staff, equipment, and materials across crews to support efficient execution. \nForecast material, equipment, and contractor needs. \nMonitor supply usage and coordinate procurement requests. \nSafety & Operational Standards\nInteract with park visitors in a courteous and professional manner and model service standards. \nReinforce safe work practices, proper equipment use, and compliance with safety policies, including required personal protective equipment (PPE). \nEnsure consistent safety practices and operational standards across crews and assigned areas. \nMonitor field operations and respond to safety concerns and operational risks as needed. \nOversee volunteer activities and special events to ensure alignment with operational standards and safety requirements. \nRequirements\nMinimum Qualifications\nFive (5) or more years of professional experience in arboriculture, tree health care, urban forestry, or related field; at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity. \nAdvanced knowledge of arboricultural practices including tree risk mitigation, plant health care systems, structural pruning, and integrated pest management. \nStrong tree and pest identification skills; familiarity with native and invasive species preferred. \nProven ability to supervise field crews and manage daily operations. \nExperience supporting operating budgets and coordinating vendor services. \nProficiency with Microsoft Office and digital work order or asset management systems; GIS familiarity preferred. \nValid Texas driver’s license. \nPreferred Certifications\nInternational Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist \nTree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) \nTexas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Pesticide Applicator License \nPhysical & Environmental Requirements\nAbility to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions. \nCapacity to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and stand for extended periods. \nLift and carry up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis. \nSafely operate motorized vehicles and power equipment. \nWork safely in high-traffic public environments. \nPerform work at heights following required safety training. \nSafety Expectations\nAll employees share responsibility for maintaining a safe work environment.
