MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.\nExciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Philipp Niethammer Lab as a Research Technician!\nThe Niethammer lab studies how cells sense physical stress and tissue injury-and how they communicate with immune cells to coordinate healing. We investigate these questions using zebrafish, human cells, microscopy, genetics, and molecular biology.\nRole Overview:\nLaboratory Support: Prepare and maintain lab equipment, instruments, solutions, stains, assays, and other essential supplies.\n Techniques & Assays: Perform specialized techniques, such as CRISPR screening, flow cytometry, sterile mammalian tissue culture, cellular transfection (lipofectamine), molecular protein design and engineering, fluorescent Imaging, paraffin tissue processing & embedding.\nAnimal Handling: Conduct animal studies, including injections, tissue/fluids collection, and animal autopsies, euthanasia, animal-handling and nursery.\nData Management: Record and analyze research data, prepare reports, and provide insights to the research team.\nCollaboration: Assist peers and researchers with ongoing projects, fostering a team-oriented, supportive environment.\nKey Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in biology/life sciences.\nExperience with tissue culture and molecular biology techniques.\nComfort working with zebrafish larvae or adult specimens, including monitoring, behavioral scoring, genotyping, and tailfin amputation.\nCore Skills:\nAttention to detail and strong record-keeping habits. \nAbility to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed. \nStrong scientific curiosity with a proactive approach to learning.\nTeam-oriented approach to supporting postdocs and fellow researchers. \nAdaptability in a dynamic lab environment. \nAdditional Information:\nLocation: NYC\nSchedule: 37.5 hours per week (onsite)\nHelpful Links:\nCompensation Philosophy\nBenefits\nPay Range: $26.77 - $40.05FSLA Status: Non-ExemptClosing:\nAt MSK, we believe in fair, competitive pay that reflects your job, experience, and skills.\nMSK is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer committed to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of recruiting and employment.
