In this role, you'll design, build, and optimize data infrastructure, pipelines, and reporting environments that support financial operations, audit processes, and securitization modeling. \nYou'll work closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure complex financial data is accurate, secure, scalable, and readily available for reporting and analysis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving challenging data problems while directly impacting key financial and strategic initiatives. \nWhat You'll Do \nPartner with Finance and Treasury teams to understand business needs and translate them into scalable data and reporting solutions. \nIdentify, explore, and integrate data from multiple systems to support financial reporting, planning, and analytics. \nDesign and develop scalable data models that support business consumption and decision-making. \nCollaborate with fellow engineers to acquire, transform, and integrate source data across platforms. \nEnsure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of enterprise data assets and reporting layers. \nDocument business rules, data definitions, metrics, and logic to promote transparency and shared understanding. \nSupport internal and external audits through clean reporting datasets and traceable data lineage. \nBuild automated validation, monitoring, and error-handling processes to proactively identify and address data quality issues. \nServe as a trusted data partner for finance stakeholders, helping bridge the gap between business requirements and technical solutions. \nWhat Makes You Successful \nAt Merchants, successful team members bring both technical expertise and a commitment to our values. \nYou are naturally curious and enjoy uncovering relationships within complex datasets. \nYou translate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders. \nYou take ownership of data quality, accuracy, and reliability. \nYou thrive in collaborative environments and build strong partnerships across teams. \nYou seek continuous improvement and aren't afraid to challenge existing processes. \nYou balance strategic thinking with strong execution and attention to detail. \nWhat You'll Bring \n5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or in a similar role, preferably supporting financial data and reporting environments. \nAdvanced SQL expertise, including experience writing, debugging, and optimizing complex queries, stored procedures, common table expressions (CTEs), and window functions. \nExperience designing data models and semantic layers for business users. \nStrong understanding of data architecture, transformation, and integration principles. \nAbility to clearly communicate implementation approaches, dependencies, and technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. \nKnowledge of financial concepts such as forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis. \nStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to partner directly with finance leaders and business stakeholders. \nInitiative, curiosity, and a passion for solving complex business and data challenges. \nPreferred Qualifications \nExperience with Snowflake strongly preferred. \nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related technical discipline. \nAdditional business education, such as Finance coursework, MBA, or related experience preferred. \nExperience supporting financial reporting, treasury operations, audit processes, or securitization data environments is highly desirable. \nWhy Merchants? \nAt Merchants Fleet, you'll have the opportunity to build solutions that directly influence key business decisions while working alongside talented and passionate colleagues. \nWe invest in our people, encourage innovation, and empower employees to challenge the status quo.
