Apply agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result.\nCarry out and improve system software development and maintenance tasks by updating the product design to automate routine system administration tasks using standard tools and software development practices.\nContribute to identification and prioritized adoption of Technology Engineering community practices within the products where you work.\nWork within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and the Product manager.\nParticipate in Product planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with Product goals.\nWhat should you have\nBachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.\n3-7 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, working with network principles, system administration for Linux/Unix and Windows servers.\n Primary skills (must-have)\nExperience with traditional disaster recovery & data backup solutions (Commvault, Acronis).\nCloud and Virtualization Platforms: Proficiency in virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix) and familiarity with cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) platforms.\nNetworking: Understanding of virtual networks, VPNs, and firewalls.\nOperating Systems: Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.\nScripting and Automation: Skills in scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell and familiarity with infrastructure automation and management tools (Ansible, Terraform).\nDevOps practices: Experience with Git, infrastructure as code (IaC), observability, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).\nSecurity Best Practices: Familiarity with IT security practices and compliance.\nProblem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.\nProduct and customer-centric approach. \nFamiliarity with Prompt Engineering and AI-Powered Coding Assistants like GitHub Copilot. \nFamiliarity with Agile way of working.\nSecondary skills (nice to have)\nRelevant certifications (ideally AWS)\nExperience with other programming languages (Python, Java)\nWho we are\nWe are known as Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, New Jersey, USA in the United States and Canada and MSD everywhere else.
