External applicants must be eligible to work in the US.\nYour Role\nWe are looking for a hands-on, safety-driven Equipment Technician/Engineer to join our Organosilanes (OS) Group and support tool reliability, lab safety, and facilities support systems in our Tempe, AZ electronics R&D lab. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role in a changing R&D setting where you will work cooperatively with others toward common goals while independently resolving equipment issues and using outside resources as needed.\nYou do not need prior experience with every system, process, or technology listed in this posting. We are looking for a strong foundation in safe, hands-on semiconductor equipment operation and troubleshooting, sound professional judgment, and the ability to work effectively with a broader team. Role-specific systems, internal safety processes, chemical delivery equipment, life-safety systems, and laboratory support practices can be developed through training and hands-on experience in the role.\nCore Skills Needed to Succeed from the Start\nSafety mindset: Demonstrated commitment to performing hands-on technical work safely, recognizing hazards, and following established safety requirements.\nHands-on semiconductor equipment capability: Ability to independently operate, repair, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on commercial PECVD and FCVD systems, or closely related commercial deposition/etch equipment, to support reliable operation and maximum uptime. The work includes software-based system operation, manually loading and unloading 300 mm Si wafers in a cleanroom environment, and performing full wet cleans of PECVD and UV Cure process chambers as required.\nProfessional judgment and teamwork: Ability to manage conflict and critical situations professionally, communicate clearly, and keep the broader team aligned and effective.\nResponsibilities and Skills You Will Develop in the Role\nWorking with the team and internal or external subject-matter experts, you will build site-specific knowledge and take increasing ownership of the following areas:\nSafety\nConduct hazard assessments for tools, processes, and lab activities and support the EMD Electronics Hazard Assessment Process.\nApply EMD specific Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) requirements during tool and equipment repairs where appropriate.\nReview contractor Work Plans and support compliance with the EMD Electronics Safety Work Permit (SWP) process.\nSafely operate and maintain commercial chemical delivery systems for toxic and reactive liquid and gas chemicals used in the semiconductor industry, including EMD Electronics ChemGuard and GasGuard systems.\nTool Operation, Maintenance & Support\nMaintain inventories of critical laboratory and tool parts, including components for supporting equipment such as vacuum pumps and abatement systems, to minimize extended downtime.\nLab Organization & Facilities Support\nWork with the Lab Manager and EMD PLC experts to maintain and modify the laboratory life-safety system as required.\nMaintain an appropriate inventory of critical life-safety equipment, including gas-sensor replacement components, to reduce the risk of extended downtime.\nCommunication & Documentation\nCommunicate tool and equipment status verbally and through daily passdowns.\nMaintain accurate maintenance records and part inventories.\nManage multiple tasks concurrently and prioritize work based on changing R&D needs.\nPhysical Requirements\nOccasionally lift up to 50 lbs., work in awkward positions as necessary, and walk, stand, or sit for up to 8 hours.\nWork in a cleanroom-type laboratory environment for up to 8 hours and handle 300 mm Si wafers.\nWho You Are\nMinimum Qualifications\n2+ years of experience with commercial deposition or etching platforms.\n2+ years of experience working in a cleanroom environment.\nHigh School Diploma or GED.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience using Microsoft software such as Excel and Word.\nAssociate Degree in Electronics or military-equivalent experience.\nExperience handling toxic and reactive chemicals and gases common in the semiconductor industry.\nExperience operating commercial chemical delivery systems for toxic and reactive liquid and gas chemicals, such as EMD Electronics ChemGuard and GasGuard systems.\nExperience with Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO).\nRespirator Certification.\nPay Range for this position: $100,000-$110,000 per year.\nThe offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
