Working with a diverse base of donors that includes European Union, GAC, Hilton Foundation, United Nations (UN), JOA, Sweden, EKN, and other foundations, Mercy Corps Ethiopia empowers people to recover from crisis, build better lives and transform their communities for good.\nPosition Title: Data Analytics Intern\nDuty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia\nPosition Type: Internship\nDuration: 1 Year\nReports To: Country MEL Manager\nPosition Summary\nThe Data Analytics Intern will support Mercy Corps Ethiopia's Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team. The intern will contribute to strengthening data management systems, analysis processes, MEL Tech automation platforms, and visualization tools across various programs. This internship is designed to build practical, professional, and technical skills in data analytics, dashboard development, digital data collection systems, and statistical analysis.\nLearning Objectives\nBy the end of the internship, the intern will develop knowledge and experience in:\nData visualization and dashboard development using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Tableau Desktop, including map creation.\nSupporting MEL Tech Automation (CommCare, Microsoft Azure, Power BI\nUsing data cleaning, data collection, and analysis tools used at Mercy Corps.\nWorking with the PaQ MEL Manager on data management systems: collection, collation, cleaning, analysis, and visualization.\nProviding statistical analysis support including sample size estimation, trend analysis, and generating insights.\nKey Responsibilities\nSupport creation of dashboards and visualizations using Power BI and Tableau.\nAssist in developing geospatial maps using Tableau Desktop.\nSupport MEL Tech platforms including CommCare, Azure, and Power BI.\nAssist in troubleshooting MEL digital systems across programs.\nSupport program teams in data collection, cleaning, validation, and archival.\nConduct statistical analysis under guidance of the Data Analytics Manager.\nAssist in quality assurance of data sets collected from field teams.\nSupport learning and reporting processes within MEL and program teams.\nExpected Deliverables\nThe intern will demonstrate the following:\nCompetent dashboard and visualization products (Power BI & Tableau).\nFunctional and welldesigned maps are built with Tableau Desktop.\nImproved knowledge and administration capacity of LMMS.\nProficiency in CommCare and other MEL Tech automation tools.\nAbility to support quantitative analysis and trend identification.\nQualifications\nSc. in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or Statistics.\nOne letter of recommendation from a university confirming integrity and responsibility.\nMust be currently enrolled or recently graduated (within 1 year).\nStrong interest in analytics, data systems, and MEL processes.\nBasic familiarity with Excel, Power BI, Tableau or similar tools is an advantage.\nGEDSI Responsibilities\nUnderstand and contribute to Mercy Corps Ethiopia's Gender, Equality, Diversity, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) priorities.\nPromote gender equitable and inclusive workplace culture.\nInteract respectfully with all staff, partners, and program participants.\nSecurity Responsibilities\nFollow all Mercy Corps security procedures and policies.\nEnsure personal and team compliance with safety protocols.\nAccountability to Beneficiaries\nSupport all efforts toward accountability to program participants.\nAdhere to international standards guiding relief and development work.\nEnsure communities are included as equal partners in design, monitoring, and evaluation.\nLiving Conditions\nThe position is based in Addis Ababa.
