The expectation is these individuals will be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.Position Details:\nMaterial Handler\nMercy Hospital St. Louis\nFull-Time (40 hours/week)\nJob Summary\nThe Material Handler is responsible for receiving, processing, and delivering supplies throughout the hospital in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. This role ensures efficient supply chain operations by managing incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting hospital departments in a fast-paced environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nDistribution\nSort and stage received packages by delivery route.\nDeliver supplies to designated departments, ensuring accurate chain-of-custody scanning.\nPrioritize time-sensitive, overnight, and urgent deliveries.\nMaintain organization and cleanliness of receiving and staging areas.\nEnsure package integrity, including handling of refrigerated or sterile items.\nSafely operate material handling equipment.\nInspect outbound shipments for accuracy and proper labeling.\nReceiving\nProcess incoming shipments accurately in supply chain (SC) systems.\nLabel and prepare shipments for internal distribution.\nUnload and verify deliveries according to policy.\nMaintain inventory rotation using FIFO (First-In, First-Out).\nResearch and resolve missing or lost shipments.\nMaintain a safe, clean, and organized receiving dock.\nEquipment Distribution / Pick-Up\nPrepare and transport medical supplies and equipment.\nManage inbound and outbound shipments efficiently.\nMail Services (as applicable)\nSort, process, and deliver incoming mail.\nPrepare outbound mail and coordinate vendor pickup.\nProvide customer support related to mail services.\nCustomer Service\nDeliver excellent customer service and resolve service issues per policy.\nCommunicate effectively with internal departments.\nTechnology\nUtilize supply chain software for tracking, issuing, and inventory management.\nPerform accurate data entry and system updates.\nUse Microsoft Office and internal systems effectively.\nComplete required training and compliance modules timely.\nSafety & Compliance\nFollow all hospital safety and infection control policies.\nAdhere to department procedures and regulatory requirements.\nTraining & Support\nAssist in training new team members as a preceptor.\nSupport departmental projects and initiatives.\nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.\nPrevious experience in supply chain, logistics, or healthcare environment preferred.\nBasic to intermediate computer skills required.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.\nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to lift and move up to 50 pounds.\nRegular walking, standing, and material handling required.\nWhy Mercy?\nFrom day one, Mercy offers outstanding benefits - including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, tuition support, and matched retirement plans for team members working 32+ hours per pay period.\nJoin a caring, collaborative team where your voice matters.
