Conducts complete and conceptually related studies to approach technical problems, whereas the problems are difficult to define, require unconventional or novel approaches, and require sophisticated research techniques.\n2. Performs technical work where available guides and precedents contain critical gaps, are only partially related to the problem, or may be largely lacking due to the novel character of the project.\n3. Generally contributes inventions, new designs, or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of specific problems.\n4. As a staff technical specialist, keeps abreast of new scientific methods and developments affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in emphasis of programs or new design programs warranted by such developments.\n5. Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of engineers or technicians and may be assisted on various engineering projects.\n6. May provide input and direction to management on various issues.\n7. Works on special projects, writes ECN's, and creates prototypes.\n8. Generates validation protocols and reports. Conducts mold tooling and processing validations\n9. Performs other related duties and tasks as required.\nESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS\nLifting -- Not to exceed 50 lbs. - local practice may apply.\nWriting\nSitting\nStanding\nBending\nVisual acuity\nColor perception\nDepth perception\nReading\nField of vision/peripheral\nFine motor skills\nNoise\nChemical vapors\nSUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nEducation and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or technical field related to the department of assignment or industry with ten years previous related experience, a Master's Degree with eight years previous related experience, or a Ph.D with five years previous related experience.\nExtensive knowledge of the medical device industry mold process development and validation in a molding disposable medical device manufacturing environment Injection molding processing experience and background (10 Years) • Scientific injection molding principles and training • Experience with plastic part specification, measurement • Knowledge of various mold tooling concepts and designs. Ability to recommend design changes and improvements • Ability to identify and drive cost reduction projects • CAD software experience\nAbility to independently apply analytical skills, complex scientific technical principles, and detailed knowledge in solving engineering problems and developing new products, techniques, or designs.\nDemonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.\nStrong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.\nWorking knowledge of United States and international standards as applicable to the department.\nCOMPETENCIES\nMold process development\nMolding validation\nProduction technical support\nScientific problem solving\nWork/project supervision\nSpecial projects/ECN's/ prototype creation\nCOMMENTS\nInfectious Control Risk Category II:\nThe risk category explains whether or not employees are likely to come into contact with blood or body fluids while performing their jobs.
