This role is ideal for a driven leader who understands the technical and operational demands of utility substation planning, engineering & construction projects and can confidently guide multidisciplinary teams from project initiation through closeout.\nYou will lead high-voltage power delivery substation projects, ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule objectives are consistently achieved while maintaining exceptional client satisfaction. With the full support of our Project Support Office (PSO), you’ll play a central role in delivering successful outcomes across a program of substation projects.\nWhat You’ll Do\nProject Leadership & Execution\nLead cross-functional planning/engineering/construction teams in the execution of utility substation design & construction projects.\nDevelop and manage key project planning documents, including:\nProject Execution Plans\nProject Initiation Documentation\nCommunication Plans\nRFI Log Creation and Maintenance\nMeeting Facilitation and Engagement of Stakeholders \nLog of Meeting Minute\nMeeting Status Reporting\nBi-Weekly Project Portfolio Reporting\nMonitoring and Controlling Project Progress \nDrive accountability to scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives\nEnsure all Mesa & assigned client business processes and procedures are followed\nSchedule & Budget Management\nMonitor and control project schedules and budgets\nProject Forecasting and Accruals \nIdentify, document, and manage scope changes affecting cost and timeline\nPartner with associate project managers, coordinators, schedulers, analysts, and controllers to forecast spending, accruals, and financial performance\nSupport Program Managers/Directors in maintaining strong cost and schedule performance\nRisk & Issue Management\nProactively identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies\nTrack, assign, and resolve issues to minimize impact\nMaintain accurate and current project status reporting systems\nTechnical & Client Coordination\nSupport design teams in resolving technical challenges\nCoordinate design and construction activities to ensure efficient information flow\nCommunicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders across multiple programs\nParticipate in client meetings and substation site visits while adhering to all safety requirements\nWhat You Bring\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in project management, engineering, construction management, or related field\nMinimum 6 years of relevant project experience, which should include:\nHeavy industrial construction, preferably related to high voltage substations\nElectrical design & construction activities\nEngaging with and leading engineering/design projects\nPMP Preferred, but not required\nFirm understanding of PMI Project Management Methodologies and Processes \nDemonstrated experience managing power utility substation design projects\nAbility to manage multiple projects or a program simultaneously\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and project scheduling software\nWorking knowledge of corporate accounting practices and business operations\nCore Competencies \nStrong leadership and decision-making abilities\nIndependent judgment with minimal supervision\nAbility to interpret and apply scopes of work, technical criteria, and design requirements\nExceptional organizational and prioritization skills\nProfessional presence and stakeholder management capability\nProven ability to manage emergent or fast-track projects\nWork Environment & Requirements\nWillingness to attend meetings at substation sites and client facilities, including occasional travel up to 10% to client locations mostly in Kentucky\nCommitment to following all Mesa and client safety protocols\nAbility to work effectively with remote and distributed teams\nNotice to External Search Firms: Mesa Associates, Inc. and its subsidiaries do not accept unsolicited resumes and will not be obligated to pay a placement fee for unsolicited resumes.
