This role has the opportunity to roll into full-time Summer internship, as well. The successful candidate will build a foundation of working in a professional environment, learn the fundamentals of project execution skills, and grow in knowledge of the technical workings of a substation. Tools utilized may range from MicroStation, AutoCAD, Inventor, and Microsoft Office products. Experience in these software suites is preferred but not required. The superior candidate will be a self-starter that loves to learn CAD software and takes ownership and pride in producing high quality, error-free CAD work.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nWorks under direct supervision of engineers and designers. The possibilities for work functions include:\nPerform 2D drafting activities for designers and engineers.\nCreate 3D parts and assemblies in various CAD programs.\nRedraw raster images to native CAD programs.\nThe successful candidate may be asked to lead small drafting intensive projects.\nOccasionally performs non-technical drafting support for assigned projects, utilizing various computer aided design technology.\nAssigned basic, routine drafting work with few technical items requiring resolution.\nLearn and apply basic design concepts for entry level substation projects.\nResponsible for back checking own work to minimize rework.\nThe ideal candidate will become proficient in understanding assigned drawings and will eventually progress to drawing creation and design.\nMay occasionally assist engineers and designers with various administrative functions. \nAttend a site visit to see the workings of a substation in person.\nSuccessful candidates will discuss potential work schedule that can be balanced with school work. A minimum of 10 hours per week is preferred. t is understood that some weeks will vary due to school conflicts.\nSuccessful candidates will also have the possibility to continue working full-time during the Summer of 2027 (expected 30+ hours per week).
