Ensures compliance with applicable building codes by monitoring division policies and procedures, helps with the education and training of staff members, contractors and general public.Directly supervises electrical inspectors, ensures quality control standards are met and maintains professional standards for all inspections.\nAssist inspectors on complicated projects and inspections.\nParticipates in the selection and hiring of qualified personnel.\nAssists/backfills electrical plan review as needed; to include but not limited to, solar, solar ready, and state model electric.\nMonitors productivity/work flow and resolves problems to ensure deadlines are met.\nMonitors the certification and training requirements of direct reports to assure they have achieved or are working on necessary levels of certification and training. Assures assignments are made on the basis of qualifications.\nCommunicates division policies and procedures to ensure the safe condition of building\nCoordinates with the Chief/Deputy Building Official in deciding appropriate actions to take in dealing with violations.\nConfers with the Chief/Deputy Building Official to keep him/her informed on key issues and progress toward objectives and to gain their support and approval; makes recommendations to assist management in making needed improvements.\nCollaborates, persuades, and negotiates with others outside own work area to coordinate efforts and maintain cooperative and efficient relations.\nAssists with reviews of residential and commercial drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure compliance with all applicable codes.\nEnsures that all codes are interpreted properly, consistence and updated regularly through proper process.\nProvides prompt and courteous responses to inquiries from public, contractors, Registered Design Professionals and co-workers.\nAddresses internal and external complaints in a non-biased and professional manner.\nReceives and responds to public concerns regarding code violations relating to health, safety, and/or welfare.\nPerforms inspections on work performed without permit or inspection to gain compliance with adopted codes.\nConducts joint inspections with Fire Prevention officials, Health Care agencies and any and all public and private agencies related to the safe use and occupancy of buildings.\nAttends staff meetings, seminars, and training sessions; maintains current knowledge of recent code developments, construction practices, and building products.\nUtilizing computer, locates permit and inspection information; maintains familiarity with office computer system.\nOral and written communications must be clear and effective.\nDrives county vehicle while performing normal daily inspections.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:\n\nEducation and Experience:\nBachelor's degree in engineering, planning, public administration or related field and 5 years of progressively responsible experience.\nAny combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.\nRequired Licenses and Certifications:\nState of Colorado Journeyman or Master Electrical License\nICC Commercial Electrical Inspector Certification\nICC Residential Building Inspector Certification (Preferred)\nElectrical Plans Examiner Certification (Shall be obtained within 12 months of hire)\nICC Plumbing Inspector Certification (Shall be obtained within 12 months of hire)\nICC Commercial Building Certification (Shall be obtained within 12 months of hire)\n(Or other ICC certifications or equivalent approved by Chief Building Official)\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:\nThis position requires climbing stairs, ladders and scaffolding, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be able to lift one’s own body weight as related to performing inspections.\nThe employee is frequently exposed to dirt, smoke, fumes, extreme heat and cold for long duration, outside atmospheric conditions, traffic noise, and dust for sustained periods of time.\nThe employee is frequently exposed to possible bodily injury from moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, and machinery.\nThe employee is occasionally exposed to possible bodily injury from electrical shock, falling from high places, and toxic or caustic chemicals.\nWhile performing the essential functions of this job, shaking objects or surfaces;
