Health and safety, sustainability practices and environmental protection are core Messer values that are embedded in our daily operations.\nWhy Messer?\nCertified as Great Place to Work®\nPaid time off: Excellent paid vacation available in first year including personal days.\nPay and benefits: Competitive pay rate ranging from $84,893 and $113,279 with comprehensive benefits and competitive pension plan.\nCareer growth: Opportunities for career advancement through training and development opportunities with tuition reimbursement program.\nReferral program: Employees can refer talent and earn!\nEmployee perks and discounts: Access to exclusive discounts on several products and services across Canada.\nPurpose:\nAssist the Zone Manager with the execution of principle operational responsibilities to meet or exceed key performance indicators at the production Facility.\nSupport the liaison between the plant, Messer account management and the customer.\nWhat you’ll do:\nSafety and Regulatory\nManage site compliance to management systems; Serve as Safety, Health, Environmental and Emergency Coordinator, QC Designee, Document Manager, and Corrective and Preventative Action administrator.\nEnsure all changes to equipment or procedures follow EMOC procedure.\nEnsure the HWP process, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and energy isolation procedures are adhered to by all employees and contractors.\nManage all waste streams leaving site(s) to comply with government regulation and the requirements of Teck Metals.\nManage storage of all hazardous materials at site(s) in accordance with government regulations.\nHost internal and external audits: utilize Intelex (Company HSE Management System) to execute, document all corrective actions issued to the site from Audits and Incidents review (when applicable).\nMaintain site security and orderliness.\nReliability\nPlanning and execution of major and minor plant maintenance activities including management and oversight of contractors.\nEnsure all equipment condition monitoring parameters are reviewed and within limits.\nEnsure spare parts are available and inventories are accurate.\nOversee planned and unplanned maintenance activities.\nProvide turnaround scopes to scheduling, sales, reliability group etc. as required.\nMaintain current the Site Contingency Plan information.\nMaintain a Shutdown and Turnaround work list and schedule.\nManage the efficient use of downtime.\nProcess Operation and Efficiency\nResponsible for reliable plant operations\nExecute the production plan - interface with the ROC (where applicable) and the national scheduling center (NSC) (where applicable).\nInventory management of bulk liquid storage and backup units at the site(s).\nEnsure work instructions are adhered to.\nAct as process expert and know when to escalate problems to Area, Regional or Central levels.\nEnsure compliance with corporate standards and best operating practices.\nWork effectively with organization support groups to improve reliability and costs.\nAdministrative and Managerial (Staff)\nManage payroll and personnel issues.\nAssist with hiring operational staff for the facility.\nManage employee training and growth through computerized training programs and performance management process.\nManage change, encourage capability, motivate staff, development and foster teamwork within the plant.\nEnsure all employees, contractors and visitors are appropriately trained.\nTimely and accurate entry of information required to invoice the customer.\nAccept On-call duty as required.\nAdministrative and Managerial (Customer)\nFollow all Quality Control requirements to ensure a quality product is delivered to Messer’s customers. Meet regulatory requirements (where applicable).\nAssist Area Manager with managing customers relationship; Act as point of contact for day-to-day operational issues with customers (customer liaison - including tonnage invoicing data collection).\nPromote customer focus amongst staff.\nManage customer reporting process (if applicable).\nProvide technical support to commercial account representatives.\nAdministrative and Managerial (Fiscal)\nAssist Area Manager with planning budget(s) and controlling variable costs.\nPerform benefit analysis for decisions.\nMeet or exceed performance indicators.\nOversee and facilitate key maintenance activities through Messer (SAP) and required customer interfaces including:Work orders\nParts procurement\nInventory process\n\nWhat it takes:\nRequired Education\nBachelor's degree Preferred - Discipline: Engineering or Technical College Degree or equivalent formal education and certification related to a technical discipline. \nRequired Qualifications\nMinimum 5 Years (Bachelor's Degree) - Type: industrial/plant operations/maintenance experience\nOther Qualifications\nPhysically able to perform all duties required which may involve among other things, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lifting and carrying loads of up to 50 lbs.\nAbility to climb to heights 200 ft above grade and work effectively.\nReside within a reasonable distance of plant.\nValid driver's license with good record.\nMath - basic algebra, fractions/percentages, unit conversion\nPersonal computer proficiency (Internet, word processing, spreadsheets), and other software used by the company.\nKnowledge of Messer Management Processes.\nStrong organizational ability.\nStrong oral and written communication skills.\nStrong interpersonal abilities to support mentoring/coaching activities.\nAptitude for Project management/Change management.\nCapacity for Crisis Management skills - damage control, tradeoffs, etc.\nExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\nFamiliarity with relevant Occupational Health and Safety regulatory standards.\nStrong mechanical aptitude.\nAbility to interpret engineering and electrical drawings to include P&IDs and One Line Diagrams.\nAt Messer, our vision for culture and engagement is to create an environment where all of us accept, respect and value the differences of multiple identities and truly welcome the diverse ideas and perspectives of individuals.
