The employee is scheduled to work every-other weekend (Fri-Mon). Position responsibilities include security patrols of campus (by vehicle and on foot), responding to medical and emergency calls for service, opening of administrative and academic buildings, providing safe-ride services, enforcing of all University student and employee conduct policies, conducting criminal investigations, community engagement with faculty, staff and students, and engaging with all community members in a Christ-like manner.\nPrimary Duties\nPatrol campus via vehicle, bike, or on foot\nProvide physical security services for University facilities\nAct as a resource to students, employees, and campus visitors; respond effectively to concerns and issues.\nEffectively de-escalate situations\nResponsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all parking and permit regulations outlined in the University traffic code, and enforce as necessary\nConduct active traffic management to ensure compliance with PA vehicle code\nRespond to, investigate, and accurately document crimes reported to the department that occur in or on campus property\nDirect traffic during large campus events\nConsistently, thoroughly and reliably complete all Informant reports\nRespond to and assume operational control of incidents (campus emergencies) to ensure safety of individuals and property.\nBe first responder for medical calls\nConduct safety escorts for campus community members\nAct as liaison with outside law enforcement and other community organizations\nConduct safety & security awareness trainings to University students and employees\nMaintain consistent and reliable attendance\nSecondary Duties\n1. Testify at PA Court of Common Pleas, District Justice and campus judiciary/administrative hearings\n2. Perform dispatch services as needed due to campus needs\n3. Conduct and assist in the execution of fire drills\n4. Other duties as assigned by supervisor\nEducation Required\nHigh School Diploma or Equivalent\nEducation Preferred\nAssociate's or Bachelor's Degree\nExperience Required\nOne year of employment in the safety and security services field or emergency services industry.\nExperience Preferred\n2 years of law enforcement/security experience\n2 years of emergency services experience\nFirst Aid/CPR/AED and Stop the Bleed Certifications\n1 year in a customer-service related field\nBasic proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel\nPrior experience working in a higher education setting.\nSkills, Characteristics Required\n\n Ability and willingness to serve with Christ-like compassion and humility\nExemplary interpersonal and human relations skills\nAbility to demonstrate respect for others, and build trust and rapport with co-workers and students including those from diverse cultural backgrounds\nExperience and desire to interface with traditional aged college students\nAbility to manage conflict, to effect conflict resolution and to work cooperatively with the campus community\nAbility to remain calm in stressful situations\nAbility to de-escalate tense situations\nAbility to prioritize and complete multiple tasks\nDemonstrates commitment to the job, strong work ethic and integrity\nAbility to adhere to strict confidentiality\nAbility to receive constructive feedback and develop self-improvement goals\nAbility to learn and use Department software products\nAbility to become First Aid/CPR/AED/Stop the Bleed trained within the first 90 days of employment\nValid driver’s license\nSpecial Working Conditions\nMust have the ability to mentally and physically perform essential job functions which require walking, prolonged standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, lifting (40lbs), dragging 150lbs 10 feet or more and endure various weather conditions. Willingness to work different shifts, work weekends and holidays, some mandatory overtime required for special events; submit to Hepatitis B immunization or provide documentation of such.
