This role will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, and the systems and processes needed to support the company’s growth. The Corporate Controller will partner with senior leadership and communicate financial results, significant accounting matters, and recommendations to leadership and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.\nThis position is based at Metabolon’s headquarters in Morrisville, NC and may be performed onsite full-time or on a hybrid schedule, with Tuesday through Thursday onsite.\nResponsibilities\nLead accounting operations, including the general ledger, cash management, invoicing, purchasing, accounts payable, and related activities.\nManage monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation processes.\nPrepare consolidated financial statements and related management reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.\nAnalyze financial performance and communicate results and key accounting matters to senior management and the Board of Directors.\nMaintain, improve, and scale accounting systems, policies, processes, and controls to support business growth and reporting needs.\nDesign, implement, and monitor effective internal controls over financial reporting and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, laws, and regulatory requirements.\nLead the annual external audit process and manage relationships with auditors and other professional service providers.\nCoordinate with external advisors on federal, state, local, and international tax matters and required tax and regulatory reporting.\nOversee international and multi-entity accounting matters and equity plan accounting and financial reporting.\nPartner with Human Resources on payroll administration, controls, reconciliations, and related accounting matters.\nProvide accounting guidance to Finance leadership and cross-functional business partners.\nRecruit, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting team while promoting accountability, operational excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA a plus.\nActive Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.\nMinimum 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including increasing leadership responsibility.\nExperience in a professional services or other project-based services organization required. Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or related industry is highly desirable.\nStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls.\nInternational accounting or multi-entity experience preferred.\nExperience using Sage Intacct for accounting operations and financial reporting.\nDemonstrated leadership in close, consolidation, financial statement preparation, and external audit processes.\nExperience improving and scaling financial systems, accounting processes, and control structures in a growing organization.\nExperience working with external auditors, tax advisors, and other professional service providers.\nExperience leading and developing accounting professionals and collaborating across functions.\nThe successful candidate will demonstrate:High integrity, sound judgment, discretion, business acumen, and executive presence.\nStrong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences and influence effectively across functions and with external partners.\nA proactive, accountable, and results-oriented approach, with strong follow-through and attention to accuracy and quality.\nAdaptability and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, lead change, and operate with urgency in a growing organization.\n\nAbout Us\nMetabolon, Inc., is the global leader in revealing biological insights on disease state and physiological reactions in the present time through metabolomics.
