We are seeking a person passionate about space exploration, who is self-motivated and capable of working with a team to develop and execute an integrated test planning process as a Systems Engineer supporting the SR-1 Freedom Mission Validation, Testing, and Operations group. SR-1F is a pioneer project with a condensed timeline to deliver payloads to Mars orbit while demonstrating a nuclear power system which will benefit both lunar and deep space exploration. SR-1F is being developed by a small team divided among multiple NASA centers and industry partners.\nResponsibilities:\nDevelop and review SR-1F Validation testing products, including integrated validation scenarios, detailed objectives, test plans, and closure notices using Concept of Operations documentation and coordination with SR-1F stakeholders.\nProactively coordinate with system and subsystem experts across a variety of technical disciplines such as: Guidance, navigation, and Control (GN&C), Power, Thermal, Flight Software, Avionics and Communications, Mission Systems (Control Centers), Flight Operations, etc.\nIdentify problem areas within testing, verification, and validation; propose and execute creative solutions to meet a compressed project schedule.\nAssist with resource management of hardware (emulators, Engineering Development Units (EDUs), Ground Support Equipment (GSE), etc.) used for integrated testing.\nReview Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Subsystem Specifications, Hazard Reports and other Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) data to support test planning.\nAttend SR-1F Validation, Testing, and Operations meetings; build and review integrated validation and testing documentation as directed\nPerform Risk Assessments for validation objectives and test scenarios to be used for test planning prioritization\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering.\n7+ years’ experience in systems engineering or a related technical field.\nBroad understanding across Systems Engineering Disciplines. Specifically, Systems. Engineering and Integration, ConOps Development, Risk Assessment, Test. Operations, Assembly and Integration, and Test and Verification.\nSoftware and/or hardware testing experience. \nAbility to learn tools and processes quickly.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nDemonstrated ability to proactively build relationships and engage stakeholders across teams and technical disciplines to identify, coordinate, and resolve integrated problems.\nDesired Qualifications:\nExperience with large system Verification and Validation planning and execution for aerospace systems.\nKnowledge of test procedure development.\nExperience with the NASA Systems Development Lifecycle, Life Cycle Reviews, and associated products.\nCitizenship or lawful permanent resident required due to federal position.\nAbout METECS:\nWe are a high-performance team providing advanced engineering, software, and analysis solutions for human space flight and terrestrial applications.
