This role assists with process monitoring and optimization and to certify the quality of product and effluent produced at the Methanex Geismar site.\nPosition Responsibilities\nProvides an accurate and efficient analytical service.\nSupports the provision of laboratory services to customers through method development, testing and trials, troubleshooting and the supply of technical advice.\nResponds to requests for support outside of normal office hours to provide continuity of the laboratory service.\nIdentifies and troubleshoots problems with laboratory equipment and methodology.\nPerforms scheduled quality control checks on instruments.\nAnalyzes quality control samples and takes appropriate actions on any resulting data which falls outside predetermined limits.\nCarries out all aspects of sample analysis.\nSets up and calibrates laboratory instruments.\nInterprets laboratory instrument results.\nEnters results into laboratory database.\nReports results in an accurate and efficient manner.\nCompares results with plant data, informing plant Operators of results which may have an impact on plant operation.\nAssists other members within the Technical Department with other work as requested from time to time.\nInterprets laboratory results through process knowledge.\nProject work or additional responsibilities as requested by the Laboratory Lead.\nSuggests and implements improvements to the Lab Quality Management System.\nContributes to the organizational vision of Global Methanol Leadership and as a team member demonstrates the core values of integrity, trust, respect and professionalism, demonstrated through feedback from team and leaders.\nUndertakes all aspects of the role through living the Methanex values.\nConducts all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic.\nNetworks with other Methanex sites to the mutual benefit of all sites.\nResponsible for ensuring awareness of all controlled documents relating to this position as per Document Awareness Report from Document Management Database.\nContributes to the ‘operational excellence’ for Methanex USA as an effective member of the Technical Department.\nPosition Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent\nAssociate Degree in Chemistry or other related Science discipline preferred\nMinimum 1-5 years relevant chemistry laboratory experience in manufacturing or related industry\nExperience with the operation of laboratory Instruments\nUnderstands the relationship between the laboratory services provided and the operations of the plant\nDemonstrated competency in the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Office and database software\nDemonstrated commitment to teamwork\nGood written and communication skills\nHas the flexibility necessary to cope with varied working arrangements, which may be required occasionally to meet the needs of the manufacturing operation\nMust be able to work a rotating shift
