In this role, you will leverage AI coding agents to translate requirements into clear test plans and reliable test automation, prepare code changes, review and validate diffs, integrate changes, and build and harden Playwright test suites. You will also investigate test failures and flaky tests while improving CI/CD pipelines and release-confidence workflows. Manual testing remains only a small, deliberate part of the role focused on exploratory testing and evaluating complex edge cases that automation cannot cover.\nAbout Method\nMethod is on a mission to transform how small businesses operate by giving them real control over their customer workflows. Our flagship product, Method CRM is purpose-built for small businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets and generic tools. With deep QuickBooks integration and a powerful no-code customization engine, Method enables users to design workflows that truly fit their unique needs. As a scaling growth company, we’re now taking that mission further, leveraging AI to develop intelligent agents that assist users in rapidly building and customizing no-code apps. This innovation is at the heart of our next chapter, and we’re looking for people who are excited to build the future of work!\nThe Role\nAs a Quality Engineer, you will be part of a driven and supportive team that’s always striving to deliver value to our customers by:\nPartnering actively across engineering to decide how test automation is designed, built, maintained, and continuously improved.\n\nLeveraging AI coding agents to turn software requirements into comprehensive test plans and working test automation.\n\nPreparing code changes, reviewing and validating diffs, and seamlessly integrating changes into the codebase.\n\nRunning, expanding, and hardening Playwright automation suites while investigating failures and resolving flaky tests.\n\nEnhancing CI/CD automation pipelines and workflows to maximize release confidence.\n\nPerforming deliberate, targeted manual testing (such as exploratory testing and edge-case validation) to cover critical risks that automation cannot.\n\nWhat You Bring\nBefore you read this next section, we want you to know that we know the “ideal candidate” doesn’t exist - everybody has a unique background and skill set. Even if you don’t check every box below, we’d love for you to apply - we are building for the future and growth potential is a priority for us!\nPost-secondary education in the following areas preferred: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent training/experience.\n\nGood understanding of JavaScript/Typescript, Python and Java languages.\n\nGood understanding of relational databases, especially SQL Server.\n\n1+ years of working experience in developing Integration Testing (API level) with Python or other languages.\n\n1+ years of working experience with Selenium based tools or Playwright.\n\nFluent with Git source control, and GitHub.\n\nPassionate for building engaging user experiences.\n\nMust be self-motivated, goal driven and possess the ability to multitask and prioritize.\n\nA team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to the overall team’s success in a fast paced environment.\n\nExperience with the following is a nice to have: exposure to Gatling, Postman, .NET Web stack: MVC, Web API, React, Redux, MongoDB, ElasticSearch and Redis, good understanding of OOD/OOP, and experience with Agile methodology, such as Kanban or Scrum.\n\nDemonstrated AI-first mindset and initiative, with concrete examples of using AI tools or coding agents to improve speed and quality in engineering workflows (distinguishing simple chat assistance from agentic workflows).\n\nStrong \"trust-and-verify\" judgment when validating AI-generated output, diffs, and test suites (demonstrated evidence through side projects or hands-on practice is welcome, but not strictly required).\n\nWhy You’ll Love Method\nFlexible hybrid work model - designed to support work-life balance while maintaining strong team collaboration; employees work from our downtown Toronto office 2-3 days per week\nCollaborative and social team culture - work in a supportive environment with regular team events and company-wide celebrations that keep things fun and connected\nGrowth-stage company experience - working at a scaling growth company like Method gives you deep insight into how a software company operates. You'll be involved in a wide range of discussions and initiatives, gaining experience that's hard to find in more siloed environments.\nTraining - You will receive initial and ongoing training on Method’s products, policies and procedures as well as a quarterly professional development budget.\nGreat downtown location - Method is located right in the heart of Toronto’s young and vibrant ‘King West’ technology hub at the corner of Adelaide and Spadina Ave.\nComprehensive health benefits - inclusive of healthcare, vision, and dental coverage to support your overall well-being\nWeekly lunch credit - enjoy a meal on us every week as a small way to say thanks\nWhat to Expect in Your First 90 Days:\nOnboard and acclimate with the Development and QA team.\n\nUnderstand Method’s values and how our teams collaborate to drive results.\n\nLearn and become an expert of our internal communication tools, norms, and practices.\n\nComplete Method’s Bootcamp\n\nWork with your manager to build out tailored goals and a plan to set you in the right direction for the upcoming quarter.\n\nContribute to the Development and QA team's culture, processes, and best practices\n\nWrite test cases and begin adding test cases to our automation framework.\n\nBuild relationships with developers, product and other QA team members.\n\nComplete training on Method process and tools used in Methods development process\n\nRaise your hand and get involved in new projects and initiatives within the QA team.\n\nParticipate in your first quarterly performance review.\n\nJob type: Full-time permanent.\nCompensation: $50,000 - $60,000 per annum.\nThis is an active role for an existing vacancy that we are currently hiring for, and we thank all applicants for their interest. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. We kindly request that recruiting agencies do not contact us regarding this position.\nAI in Recruitment\nAt Method, we use artificial intelligence (AI) to help support and enhance our recruitment process. All hiring decisions are made by our team.
