The manager works closely with physicians, nurses, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to improve oncology services, optimize operational efficiency, and enhance patient outcomes.\nJob Purpose\nAn Oncology Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating oncology programs within a healthcare organization, ensuring efficient and high-quality cancer care services.\n\nThe Program Manager works closely with physicians, nurses, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to improve oncology services, optimize operational efficiency, and enhance patient outcomes.\n\nSupports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.\n\nJob Requirements:\nEducation:\nBachelor’s degree in nursing Master’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field preferred.\n\nLicenses and/or Certifications:\nOncology Nursing Certification (OCN) preferred, required within one year of hire\n\nCertified Tumor Registrar (CTR) preferred, required within one year of eligibility to test for certification\n\nWork Experience:\n3-5 years of experience in oncology. Oncology program experience preferred\n\nExperience in quality improvement, data analysis, and regulatory compliance preferred.\n\nRelated Work Experience and Other Skills:\nStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.\n\nKnowledge of oncology treatment protocols, healthcare regulations, and accreditation processes.\n\nAbility to analyze data, manage projects, and drive process improvements.\n\nProficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and healthcare technology.\n\nJob Roles:\nProgram Development & Management:\nDevelop, implement, and manage oncology programs, ensuring alignment with the organizational goals.\n\nCoordinate cancer treatment programs, screening initiatives, and patient support services.\n\nEnsure compliance with accreditation bodies such as the Commission on Cancer (CoC) or the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).\n\nOperations & Quality Improvement:\nMonitor program performance and implement quality improvement initiatives.\n\nEstablish protocols and workflows to enhance efficiency and patient care delivery.\n\nTrack patient outcomes and use data analytics to improve oncology services.\n\nRegulatory Compliance & Accreditation:\n\nMaintain compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.\n\nEnsure adherence to guidelines from organizations such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).\n\nPrepare and oversee audits, reporting, and accreditation requirements.\n\nFinancial & Resource Management:\nDevelop budgets and manage financial aspects of oncology programs.\n\nIdentify funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships to support program growth.\n\nOptimize resource utilization, including staffing, technology, and facilities.\n\nPatient & Community Engagement:\nDevelop patient education programs and support services.\n\nCollaborate with community organizations to promote cancer awareness and screening programs.\n\nServe as a liaison between patients, providers, and support staff to enhance the patient experience.\n\nLeadership & Team Collaboration:\nLead and support interdisciplinary teams, including oncologists, nurses, social workers, and administrators.\n\nProvide staff training and development opportunities.\n\nFoster collaboration between departments to enhance integrated cancer care.\n\nMethodist Southwest Medical Center, previously known as Methodist Charlton Medical Center, is a 314-bed, full-service, acute care teaching hospital that serves Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville, Lancaster, and Glen Heights in southwestern Dallas County.
