At METLEN, we foster a culture of resilience, challenge, respect, excellence, andchange, empowering our diverse workforce to achieve remarkable outcomes.\nWe are currently looking for a Project Director (Solar/BESS) to join our team in the UK & Ireland.\nThe Project Director will take responsibility for the end-to-end leadership and delivery of utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) EPC projects, from tender preparation and contract negotiation through execution, commissioning and handover.\nThe role will hold overall accountability for project profitability, schedule, quality, HSE and client satisfaction, while coordinating cross-functional teams across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance and Legal.\nYour role will encompass:\nLeading and coordinating tender preparation, including reviewing requirements, identifying commercial risks and supporting client negotiations.\nDeveloping and approving project budgets, cost of sales, cash flow forecasts and profitability margins.\nLeading EPC contract negotiations covering commercial terms, payment schedules, performance guarantees, liabilities, warranties and risk allocation.\nOverseeing procurement and supply chain activities across PV modules, inverters, BESS, MV/HV equipment, structures and subcontractor works.\nProviding executive oversight of project execution, including programme, budget, cash flow, HSE, quality and resource requirements.\nManaging project risks, deviations, change orders and claims, ensuring appropriate mitigation and commercial outcomes.\nMaintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.\nEnsuring successful project commissioning, handover and contractual close-out.\nPreparing and approving progress reports, cash flow reports and executive dashboards, escalating key risks and mitigation plans to senior management.\nSupporting continuous improvement across EPC project delivery processes.\nWhat you bring to the role:\nBachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.\n5-10 years of experience in EPC project management or project directorship.\nProven track record delivering utility-scale Solar PV projects, ideally across multi-MW projects.\nStrong experience in tendering, contract negotiation and EPC execution.\nDemonstrated responsibility for project budgets, cash flow and profitability.\nExperience delivering projects in the UK, Ireland or EU is highly desirable.\nExperience across Solar PV and BESS projects.\nFamiliarity with UK and Irish permitting, grid connection and contractual requirements.\nExperience working with international suppliers and subcontractors.\nStrong understanding of Solar PV and BESS EPC engineering fundamentals.\nStrong commercial and contractual knowledge, including payment terms, LDs, warranties, bonds and performance guarantees.\nStrong cost control, cash flow forecasting, margin and risk management skills.\nExcellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.\nHighly proactive, solution-oriented and able to make effective decisions under commercial and time pressure.\nAdvanced MS Office skills; experience with MS Project is required.\nFluency in English, both written and spoken.\nDesirable:\nMaster's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification.\nPMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management certification.\nMBA or postgraduate qualification in Project or Business Management.\nYour benefits:\nAttractive remuneration package.\nFriendly and professional working environment.\nContinuous training and development opportunities.\nCooperation, creativity and innovation, with flexible ways of working to support fast results and increased productivity.\nThe opportunity to contribute to the delivery of major renewable energy and energy storage projects as part of a growing international organisation.\nFollow us on LinkedIn and stay updated on our latest news.\nWe respect your personal data.
