At METLEN, we foster a culture of resilience, challenge, respect, excellence, andchange, empowering our diverse workforce to achieve remarkable outcomes.\nAs we continue to expand our activities across the UK and Ireland, we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in our London office, supporting the commercial and cost management of utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.\nThe role will support the preparation, assessment and management of project costings across tender and project development stages, ensuring accurate quantities, competitive pricing and robust commercial assumptions.\nThis is a commercially focused position, requiring strong quantity surveying expertise, attention to detail and the ability to work closely with engineering, procurement, tender and project teams across both office and site environments.\nYour role will encompass:\nPreparing detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and Bills of Materials (BoM) based on completed engineering designs for Solar PV and BESS projects.\n\nDeveloping accurate cost estimates, budgets and pricing schedules, ensuring alignment with project scope, specifications and tender requirements.\n\nReviewing engineering designs and project documentation to validate quantities, specifications and commercial assumptions.\n\nLiaising closely with Engineering, Procurement and Tender teams to ensure accurate quantities, specifications and pricing.\n\nObtaining, analysing and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations to support competitive and realistic project pricing.\n\nIdentifying cost risks, commercial opportunities and value engineering options to optimise project costs and margins.\n\nSupporting the Tender Manager in defining pricing strategies and ensuring the commercial competitiveness of tender submissions.\n\nEnsuring all costings are accurately documented, traceable and compliant with internal standards and client requirements.\n\nSupporting tender reviews, commercial assessments and post-bid analysis, capturing lessons learned and improving future estimating processes.\n\nMaintaining and updating cost databases, benchmarks and standard pricing tools for Solar PV, BESS and associated infrastructure.\n\nWorking closely with project and site teams to understand construction requirements, quantities, variations and cost implications.\n\nSupporting the wider commercial team with cost analysis and quantity surveying activities throughout project delivery.\n\nWhat you bring to the role:\n5+ years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Estimating or a closely related discipline.\n\nProven experience working on Solar PV, BESS or other large-scale renewable energy projects.\n\nStrong understanding of construction costs, quantities, pricing, subcontractor procurement and commercial risk.\n\nExperience preparing BoQs, BoMs, cost estimates and tender pricing.\n\nA Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background is highly desirable.\n\nPrevious on-site experience within construction, infrastructure or renewable energy projects is strongly preferred.\n\nExperience working across both office and site environments, with the ability to engage effectively with project and construction teams.\n\nExperience supporting projects and tenders across the UK and Ireland.\n\nStrong analytical and numerical skills, with excellent attention to detail.\n\nStrong Excel and commercial reporting skills, with the ability to work with complex cost data and pricing information.\n\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.\n\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate costings within tight tender and project deadlines.\n\nProactive, commercially minded and solution-oriented approach.\n\nFluency in English, both written and verbal.\n\nYour Benefits:\nCompetitive remuneration package.\n\nPrivate global medical plan.\n\nPension plan.\n\nCollaborative and professional working environment.\n\nOpportunities for continuous learning, development and career progression.\n\nAt Metlen Energy & Metals, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where our people can grow, collaborate and achieve their full potential.\nFollow us on LinkedIn and stay updated on our latest news\nWe respect your personal data.
