You will work closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve issues, ensuring development deliverables meet both functional and user experience standards. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering high-quality results. As a Sr Software engineer in test, you are responsible for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of solutions supporting Disability & Absence products at MetLife - products that provide income protection and job protection to millions of employees across the United States. You will collaborate closely with the Scrum Lead, Product Owner and ART Leadership. You will have an opportunity to impact every part of the system and iterate over solutions to be the very best you can be to deliver for our customers. \n\nYou will be responsible for thought leadership, creative problem solving, and applying your expertise in a complex environment. Your responsibilities include writing full stack code, reviewing code written by the team, design and development of systems, frameworks, applications, and APIs. \n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nPartners with software engineers to write efficient test automation code using coding standards and best practices. Writes manual test where automated is not supported. \nAssist in Software Architectural Design. \nDevelop/enhance and document automated testing framework, tools and dashboards \nLeads the planning and documenting test strategies and acceptance criteria based on customer needs \nLeads and participates in test execution (new builds and regression), test suite grooming, analyze the reports, troubleshoot & investigate the failures. Performs peer reviews of automation codebase. \nInvestigate, diagnose and repair problems, testing bugs, and creating and managing bug reports. \nUnderstanding the business processes at the feature level to pro-actively look for ways to innovate and improve the testing process to gain efficiencies.  \n\nExpected Behaviors\n\nA self-starter capable of acting independently and proactively requiring minimal management oversight. \nAbility to work across cultures and geographies to encourage team to adopt best practices \n\nEducation\n\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.\nExperience in the Insurance industry, preferably with knowledge of Disability products and related business processes.\nHands-on experience with DevSecOps practices, tools, and AI-powered solutions such as Microsoft Copilot.\nProven experience testing Web, Mobile, Data-Intensive, and Responsive Web applications.\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional, geographically distributed teams.\nExperience working in SAFe and Agile environments, with an understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and their integration with traditional Waterfall practices.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and quality engineering skills.\nExperience collaborating with business stakeholders, developers, and product teams in an Agile environment.\nKnowledge of test automation, continuous integration, and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.\n\nTechnical Skills\n\n7+ years of experience delivering large-scale, complex software projects with demonstrated technical leadership in Quality Engineering, Test Automation, and AI-enabled testing initiatives.\nStrong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and quality engineering principles.\nHands-on experience with various testing types including functional, regression, integration, system, API, end-to-end, performance, and user acceptance testing.\nProficient in designing and maintaining comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, and quality metrics aligned with business requirements.\nExperience with Test-Driven Development, Behavior-Driven Development, Shift-Left Testing, and Continuous Testing practices.\nStrong knowledge of Agile/Scrum frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and automated regression testing methodologies.\nHands-on experience with Tosca, Playwright, Azure DevOps, Git, and modern test automation frameworks.\nExperience leveraging AI/GenAI technologies to improve software quality, including AI-powered test case generation, test data creation, defect analysis, root cause identification, and test optimization.\nUnderstanding of Large Language Models, Prompt Engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, AI Agents, and Responsible AI practices in software development and testing workflows.\nExperience validating and testing AI/ML applications, including model performance, accuracy, bias detection, explainability, security, and compliance requirements.\nAbility to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, Developers, Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and AI Engineers to ensure delivery of high-quality solutions.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to drive quality improvements across enterprise applications and AI-powered systems.\n\nExperience: 8-12
