This is a hands-on role supporting an existing Microsoft SQL Server environment and the applications and integrations that depend on it.\nThe consultant will be responsible for writing and troubleshooting SQL queries, supporting data integrations between business applications, maintaining existing SSIS packages, and resolving database-related application issues.\nThis engagement is expected to require approximately 30-40 hours per week and is initially a temporary/contract position with the potential to transition into a permanent role.\nThe ideal candidate is located in or near Irvine, CA and can work closely with the client's technical and business teams as needed.\nKey Responsibilities\nWrite, execute, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL queries within Microsoft SQL Server environments.\nInvestigate and resolve database-related issues impacting business applications.\nTroubleshoot connections and data flows between SQL databases and existing applications.\nSupport integrations to and from the client's existing application environment.\nCreate, modify, troubleshoot, and maintain SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages.\nMonitor and troubleshoot scheduled data-processing and integration jobs.\nInvestigate failed queries, jobs, integrations, and data-transfer processes and determine root causes.\nAssist with stored procedures, views, functions, scripts, and other SQL database objects.\nWork with application owners and technical teams to identify whether issues originate within the database, integration layer, or application.\nAssist with data validation and troubleshooting to maintain accurate and reliable information across integrated systems.\nReview the existing SQL and integration environment and recommend improvements where appropriate.\nDocument queries, integrations, SSIS packages, configurations, dependencies, and troubleshooting procedures.\nProvide knowledge transfer and help reduce reliance on undocumented or single-resource database processes.\nRequired Qualifications\n3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.\nStrong SQL/T-SQL querying and troubleshooting skills.\nHands-on experience creating and maintaining SSIS packages.\nExperience supporting application-to-database and database-to-application integrations.\nExperience troubleshooting failed queries, jobs, data feeds, and application/database connectivity.\nWorking knowledge of stored procedures, views, functions, joins, and database objects.\nAbility to troubleshoot existing environments and understand applications and integrations that may have limited documentation.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently and communicate effectively with application owners and business users.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting SQL Server environments in a production business environment.\nExperience with SQL Server Agent jobs and scheduled processes.\nExperience with ETL and data integration workflows.\nFamiliarity with APIs, flat-file integrations, SFTP, or other application integration methods.\nBasic SQL Server performance troubleshooting and query optimization experience.\nExperience taking ownership of an environment previously managed by another SQL resource.\nLocal to Irvine or the surrounding Orange County
