You will work closely with plant experts and experienced engineers, gaining valuable insights into the field of precast concrete and structural engineering.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nGain exposure to plant operations including these departments:\nSteel Fab\nMaterial Handling\nQuality Control\nCarpentry Shop\nBatch Plant\nDry/Wet Finishing\nParticipate in project site visits to gain understanding of the erection process\nAssist in structural design with experienced engineers; support the design and analysis of various structures using industry-standard software\nReview drawings under the guidance of experienced engineers\nComplete a mock design project\nMust adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.\nSCOPE OF AUTHORITY\nWorks independently with close supervision\nReporting structure varies based on location\nMentor assigned for daily support and interaction\nCHARACTERISTICS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work both independently and as part of a team.\nAttention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and safety.\nAble to adapt to changes in work schedules, tasks, or processes\nValues and demonstrates safe working behaviors\nEDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. \nBasic understanding of structural engineering principles and concepts.\nProficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other relevant engineering software (preferred).\nExperience with 3D modeling software (preferred)\nKnowledge of building codes and construction practices (preferred)\nPrior internship or co-op experience in a related field (preferred)\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT / SCHEDULE\nWorks in the plant and office environment\nMonday – Friday, 8am – 5pm; hours may very while training in production areas\nPlant work area is not climate controlled and may be exposed to changing weather and temperature conditions \nIndoor, outdoor/sheltered and unsheltered\nNoise level is moderate\nPERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE)\nSafety glasses\nHigh-visibility vest\nHard hat\nSteel-toed shoes\nHearing protection\nGloves (various types)\nPPE only required with working in the plant\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nThis is a hybrid plant and office position that requires sitting, standing, and walking.
