Reviews and approves drawings developed from designs. Coordinates with drafter/modelers, coordinators, and other engineers when applicable to facilitate successful completion of projects. \nRESPONSIBILITIES\nPerform engineering calculations and details for all products and connections.\nIndependently manage engineering design aspects of a project with minimal assistance or guidance.\nReview contract documents to be familiar with project requirements.\nAttend project meetings; may lead coordination meetings.\nWrite and review requests for information (RFI).\nResolve engineering design issues independently. \nAssist others with resolving engineering design issues. \nCheck engineering design calculations and details of others – including external consultants/subcontractors - for accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to Metromont standards and Engineering Design Process.\nReview erection drawings, master shop tickets, and any additional shop tickets to ensure designs and standards are followed.\nBe actively aware of production processes through regular plant visits.\nBecome licensed in states where engineering work is performed and, when assigned, review and stamp erection drawings, calculations, and repair details.\nEvaluate design cost as compared to estimate and take appropriate action.\nComplete repairs without assistance.\nMust adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.\nSCOPE OF AUTHORITY\nClosely supervised\nMay work independently or as a member of a team\nInteract closely with project team including project managers, general managers, drafting, and production\nReports to the Engineering Manager\nCHARACTERISTICS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)\n3-7years of relevant engineering experience – internal or external\nPrevious precast knowledge preferred \nHighly dependable with strong work ethic\nEager to learn\nAble to work individually or on a team\nStrongly values relationships and interaction with people\nMaintains a balanced perspective about change; adapts when necessary while placing value in consistency of processes\nPositive outlook\nComputer skills (experience with engineering design software preferred)\nAnalytical thinker with above average problem-solving skills\nAttention to detail and accuracy\nStrong personal organization skills\nAbove average ability to manage multiple priorities\nSelf-motivated\nValues teaching and demonstrates a willingness to develop others\nDemonstrated ability to managed multiple projects and priorities, maintain project schedules, and work effectively within a project team\nAbove average assertiveness; proactively addresses project issues \nStrong communication skills\nAble to document ongoing information on projects for record keeping purposes\nAble to adapt to changes in work schedules, tasks, or processes\nValues and demonstrates safe working behaviors\nEDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY\nBS Civil Engineering required; structural emphasis preferred \nPE Certification required\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT / SCHEDULE\nTypically works inside in an office environment\nSignificant exposure to production environment during initial training period\nMonday – Friday, 8am – 5pm; hours may vary while training in production areas\nPERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE)\nSafety glasses\nHigh-visibility vest\nHard hat\nSteel-toed shoes\nHearing protection\nPPE only required with working in the plant\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nThis is an office position which requires walking, standing, and sitting.\nDisclaimer:\nThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
