We look for individuals who share this same passion and can apply their experience in real-world settings. \nJob Description: \nOur Reston, VA offices is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support enterprise network operations, secure infrastructure, campus connectivity, and hands-on implementation across corporate and secure environments. \nThis is an execution-focused senior technical role. The Senior Network Engineer will configure, troubleshoot, maintain, document, and improve network systems while working closely with network architecture, systems engineering, cybersecurity, vendors, and program teams. \nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on senior network engineer with strong Cisco experience, disciplined change-management habits, and the ability to troubleshoot complex network, VPN, access-control, and secure-environment issues. \nOccasional after-hours/weekend maintenance and emergency response required. \nKey Responsibilities: \nNetwork Operations & Implementation \nConfigure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, firewall, DNS, and secure network infrastructure. \nExecute network changes, switch cutovers, routing updates, firewall/security changes, and connectivity improvements. \nSupport campus, data center, colocation, carrier, ISP, and secure-environment network operations. \nCisco, VPN & Secure Network Support \nAdminister Cisco switching, wireless, security, and related enterprise networking platforms. \nTroubleshoot site-to-site VPNs, routing issues, latency, packet loss, DNS behavior, firewall behavior, and service-connectivity problems. \nSupport network access-control workflows, including Cisco ISE, TACACS+, RADIUS, and device-administration policies. \nDocumentation, Change Management & Escalation \nCoordinate Cisco TAC, carrier, ISP, and vendor support cases through resolution. \nFollow formal change-management practices, including implementation plans, test plans, risk analysis, backout plans, and maintenance-window coordination. \nMaintain accurate network diagrams, change records, implementation notes, operational runbooks, and troubleshooting documentation. \nRequired Qualifications: \nAble to work on-site in Reston, VA \nEligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance \nWilling and able to work in classified, secure, or compliance-bounded environments \nAble to support occasional after-hours and weekend maintenance or emergency response \n7+ years of hands-on enterprise networking experience \n5+ years supporting Cisco enterprise networking platforms \nExperience with switching, routing, VLANs, wireless, VPNs, DNS, firewalls, and network security operations \nExperience troubleshooting site-to-site VPNs, routing, latency, packet loss, DNS, and service-availability issues \nExperience supporting secure, classified, regulated, government, defense, or security-controlled infrastructure \nExperience following formal change-management, testing, backout, and documentation practices \nAbility to coordinate across network, systems, cybersecurity, helpdesk, vendor, and program teams \nPreferred Qualifications: \nActive U.S. security clearance \nExperience with Cisco ISE, TACACS+, RADIUS, or network access-control policy administration \nExperience with TACLANE, encrypted transport, secure enclave networking, or air-gapped environments \nExperience with Cisco firewall/security platforms or enterprise firewall policy troubleshooting \nExperience with Active Directory, Entra ID, ADFS, SSO, claims, UPN/email hygiene, or ServiceNow identity integrations \nWorking familiarity with virtualization or platform environments such as VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V, Linux, storage, or backup systems \nExperience in defense contracting, government programs, CMMC, NIST 800-171, or other compliance-driven environment\nPosition Location: Reston, VA (the selected individual will be expected to work onsite in the Reston, VA office) \nPerks and Benefits \nMedical, Dental and Vision Insurance \nAccompanying FSA and HSA options \nAdditional Voluntary Benefits \nPaid Time Off \n9 Observed Holidays and 2 Floating Holidays \nPaid Parental Leave \nMilitary Leave \nTuition Reimbursement \nProfessional Development Reimbursement \nAnnual Salary Reviews \nProfit Sharing \n401(k) Traditional and Roth Options \nGym and Fitness Reimbursement \nEmployee Assistance Program \nEmployee Referral Program \nMetron is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer.
