Obtain practical work experience and supplement a formal educational program while completing planning and construction tasks.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nAssist in the production of construction drawings and specifications\nPerform field inspections, audits, data collection and physical assessments of capital assets\nAssist in the production of conceptual and planning drawings for park improvement projects.\nScan documents, plan sets, organizing project and departmental files.\nAssist in the development of department processes and standards.\nInvestigate, research, and compile information as necessary to complete studies, cost estimates and reports.\nInspect and monitor construction projects including recording observations, completing daily inspection reports and required documentation.\nDevelop software skills to take full advantage of design and planning software.\nOther work-related duties as assigned.\nEquipment Used\nGeneral office equipment \nSoftware & Apps: Microsoft365, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe, Geographic Information System (GIS), Unity Asset Management\nVehicles: on & off-road trucks\nSurvey tools and equipment; GPS devices and mapping tools\nPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions\nSchedule: up to 40-hour work-week that may require work in the evenings, weekends, and/or holidays \nLength of internship is one trimester/semester and can be extended one trimester/semester at a time based on needs of the district. The internship will not exceed three years total or one year beyond graduation from degree program.\nHome Work Location: Fallen Timbers Field Office\nMay require business use of personal vehicle to travel between Metroparks locations.\nRequires occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds; ability to physically visit construction sites and transport equipment necessary for required fieldwork; ability to perform onsite inspections of park district assets and construction projects in all site and weather conditions. \nRequirements\nJob Requirements\nMust be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.\nEducation: Currently pursuing and has completed at least two semesters towards a Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, architecture, construction management, civil engineering, or related field. \nExperience: No prior experience needed. \nAlternates to the position requirements may be made as Metroparks finds appropriate and acceptable.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nDemonstrated appreciation for enhancing quality of life and conserving the region’s natural resources through clean, safe and natural parks and open spaces.\nKnowledge (or the Willingness and Ability to Learn)\nKnowledge of the creation of construction documents.\nKnowledge of how to assess construction projects and conditions.\nKnowledge of how to use survey equipment and measuring devices.\nKnowledge of how to perform research relating to construction materials, specifications, and installation techniques.\nSkills\nDemonstrated proficiency with Microsoft365, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and/or Adobe, \nStrong verbal and written communication skills.
