Value for our customers.\nIf you think you can see yourself delivering our mission and pursuing our goals with us, then check out the job description below!\nWhat you’ll do:\nOwn our edge capture devices end to end, from board bring-up and on-device software through the physical form factor that goes into the field\nPerform bring-up and configuration on embedded Linux platforms, including flashing, kernel and device tree configuration, camera module enablement, and driver troubleshooting\nBuild and maintain on-device capture pipelines that record synchronized video and audio, attach sensor telemetry, and hold up under sustained field use\nDesign capture behavior that degrades gracefully in denied, disrupted, intermittent, and limited bandwidth environments, including local buffering and store-and-forward delivery\nIntegrate and synchronize sensors across capture types, including depth and stereo cameras, inertial measurement units, and positioning receivers, and you'll get their timestamps to line up\nTake development kits and off-the-shelf components and turn them into fieldable units, working through enclosure, mounting, power, and thermal constraints, with rapid prototyping to iterate on the design\nProduce bills of materials, assembly instructions, and test procedures\nPresent design tradeoffs and test results to a diverse audience in presentation or report form, including senior leadership and customer stakeholders\nWhat you’ll need to succeed:\nStrong experience with embedded Linux on ARM based systems on chip, including NVIDIA Jetson platforms, device tree configuration, and CSI camera enablement\nAt least 5 years of hands-on development in C, C++, and Python on resource constrained devices\nDemonstrated experience integrating development kits and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components into working devices that have been deployed in real-world or field environments, including packaging, power, and mounting considerations.\nExperience building edge systems that capture and manage sensor or media data, such as cameras, IMUs, GNSS, environmental sensors, vehicle telemetry, or other physical sensor data.\nExperience designing systems that operate reliably under unreliable or limited connectivity, including local storage/buffering, retry behavior, store-and-forward workflows, and eventual delivery of media or telemetry to cloud services.\nExpert experience with video capture and encoding pipelines, including GStreamer, V4L2, hardware accelerated H.264 and H.265 encoding, and RTSP or WebRTC transport\nStrong experience integrating and synchronizing sensors such as inertial measurement units and GNSS receivers, including calibration and timestamp alignment across streams\nExperience delivering media and telemetry to cloud services, including object storage, resumable and chunked uploads, and retry behavior under unreliable connectivity\nWorking knowledge of power budgeting, battery systems, and thermal management in compact devices\nAbility to work with limited direction in an innovation environment where requirements evolve and priorities shift\nStrong written communication skills, with the ability to document designs and test results for both engineering and customer audiences\nThis role is hybrid, with a requirement to be in our Reston HQ office a minimum of 3 days/week.\nThe ability to obtain a Secret Clearance. \nSALARY RANGE: $140,000 - $150,000\nThe salary range for this position is determined based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.
