In this role, you will prepare accurate cost estimates and develop high-quality proposals for thermal process opportunities, including lime plants, lithium plants, dryer systems, calcination systems, and other large capital equipment projects. You will work closely with customers, market areas, process engineering, engineering, procurement, and project teams to deliver competitive technical and commercial solutions. You will report to the Proposal Manager.\nThis role is based in York, PA with hybrid options available.\nThis role includes less than 10% domestic and international travel, often on short notice, including visits to customer offices and plant sites.\nTeam You Will Belong To\nYou will join a team of engineering and proposal professionals focused on developing technical and commercial solutions for customers in the mining, mineral processing, industrial minerals, power generation, and thermal processing industries.\nOur team plays a key role in driving business growth by delivering accurate, competitive proposals that support customer decision-making and successful project execution. We collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and Project Management, as well as external vendors and customers.\nOur ways of working emphasize collaboration, accountability, customer focus, continuous improvement, and open communication.\nWhat You'll Do\nReview and interpret client and engineering specifications for thermal process equipment and systems.\nPrepare and distribute technical inquiries and specifications to engineering, procurement, quality assurance, project management, and other stakeholders.\nEvaluate vendor quotations for technical compliance, commercial completeness, and overall proposal suitability.\nSelect and incorporate vendor pricing and solutions into project proposals.\nDevelop complete cost estimates and support internal approval processes, commercial compliance reviews, and customer evaluations.\nPrepare professional proposal packages including technical descriptions, exceptions, pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial terms and conditions.\nSupport customer presentations and participate in visits to customer offices and operating sites.\nProvide thorough project handover packages and support project engineers and project managers during contract execution.\nWhat You'll Bring\nBachelor's degree in Mineral Processing, Mining Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.\n3-5 years of experience in proposal development, estimating, technical sales support, or related activities involving industrial equipment projects.\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings with strong mechanical aptitude.\nStrong experience working with multiple stakeholders within matrix organizations and customer-facing environments.\nExcellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.\nExperience with SAP, Salesforce, and related business systems. \nNice to Have\nExperience supporting mining, mineral processing, industrial minerals, heat transfer, thermal processing, or power generation projects.\nKnowledge of Metso products, technologies, applications, and customer industries.\nWhat's In It For You\nAt Metso, you will combine meaningful work with opportunities to learn, grow, and make an impact in a supportive and inclusive environment.
