Network Engineer

M Force Technology is a specialized recruiting company placing candidates in technology positions in Knoxville, TN. We have partnered with a growing company to hire a talented Network Engineer for immediate placement.

This is a contract to potential hire position. A Q clearance and/or the ability to obtain a Q clearance is required for this role.

• The primary responsibility for this position is network design, configuration and troubleshooting
• Responsible for diagnosing and resolving Tier 1 thru Tier 3 cabling and Cisco and Arista issues.
• Design, engineer, and oversee installation of network gear to ensure installation is within industry standards.
• Implementation of device configurations as assigned (such as Cisco switches, routers, and wireless)
• Prioritizing outstanding faults based on severity and the order of precedence.
• Providing trouble tracking, coordination, notification, escalation and documentation to resolve events/issues, efficiently minimizing customer impact.
• Updating trouble tickets as necessary, tracking all customer issues.
• Ensuring that each response provided to the customer whether verbal or written is accurate and appropriate.
• When applicable, interfacing with the various levels of management.
• Assisting with other tasks as needed or as assigned by manager to improve the delivery of service to customers.
• Responding to alarms and providing 1-3 level maintenance support for the customer base.
• Keeping customers informed by providing status updates to any tickets generated in reference to support related items.
• Providing outage reports to appropriate levels of management.
• This position may require some afterhours work, as it is on a 24x7 on- call rotation.
• Verifying adherence to security guidelines, including working with auditors to ensure the network is compliant.
• Participation in the installation of new network devices (such as switches and access points)
• Analysis of triggered alerts (utilizing tools such as Wireshark) and escalate as needed while providing trouble tracking, coordination, notification, escalation and documentation to resolve events/issues, efficiently minimizing customer impact.
• Suggest and implement solutions based on customer requirements and project goals
• Implementation of load balancer configurations as assigned
• Day to day troubleshooting and operations support for customers and various groups within ITSD
• Assisting other network engineers as needed

• Ability to work on a team of other network engineers and with other groups to troubleshoot issues and solve problems strongly preferred.
• Routing experience desired.
• ASA Firewall experience highly desired.
• Good oral communication and technical writing skills.
• Good problem solving skills and the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it is required.
• Ability to handle constantly changing flow of traffic, to be able to multitask effectively during busy times and to exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations is needed.
• Ability to work responsibly with or without supervision is required
• Experience configuring client and site-to-site VPN tunnels
• Analysis of all network tickets and create new tickets as necessary
