With a heritage dating back more than 175 years, we have a long history of innovation in savings and investments, combining asset management and insurance expertise to offer a wide range of solutions. \nOur two distinct operating segments, Asset Management and Life, work together to provide access to balanced, long-term investment and savings solutions.\nThrough telling it like it is, owning it now and moving it forward together with care and integrity; we are creating an exceptional place to work for exceptional talent.\nWe will consider flexible working arrangements for any of our roles and offer workplace adjustments to ensure you have the support you need to succeed in your role.\nThe Role:\nTo manage individual audit assignments and execute audit assignment work as required within the Finance Audit Team.\nTo execute all audit work with objectivity and independence from the business area, executive management and risk management\nTo deliver audit outputs at the necessary level of quality to satisfy internal requirements and external expectations\nKey Responsibilities:\nOverseeing and taking responsibility for the work delegated to and performed by team members.\nTaking responsibility for the identification of, and request for, information needed to help identify key risks, key controls and scope areas.\nTaking responsibility for the design and performance of audit testing across different business/operational areas.\nPerforming and/or overseeing audit testing across different business/operational areas.\nProducing and reviewing audit files and working papers to ensure that they are of a consistently high standard in accordance with the requirements of the Internal Audit Standards Manual for all work performed under your responsibility\nLeading and/or supporting in the discussion of the results of audit testing and any resultant observations with stakeholders\nEnsuring that affected stakeholders are informed about the scope and purpose of the audit and all aspects of the audit timeline at the onset of the assignment and kept appraised of progress as the assignment progresses.\nActively participate in any Audit Community to which you belong\nExperience:\nExperience of influencing and negotiation at all levels of the organisation, strong awareness of when to escalate audit issues upwards to more senior members of the audit team\nExperience of influencing others and building strong relationships across the business\nSignificant experience of a broad range of audit frameworks and approaches, covering financial and non-financial risk\nExperience of assessing, reacting quickly and decisively to problems once identified, taking tough decisions where needed\nExperience of working closely with senior management, actuaries and Audit Committees to understand and deliver against expectations\nSome experience of contributing to the development of business audit plans to ensure all major risks an area / BU faces are covered\nExperience of acting as a technical coach / mentor to less experienced members of an audit team\nSome experience of leading more junior auditors on complex and large assignments\nExperience of using actuarial understanding linked with finance knowledge to support decision making.\nKnowledge\nDetailed knowledge of professional standards and codes relating to the actuarial specialism.\nRelevant professional qualification (e.g. Actuary, or part qualified actuary) with significant relevant actuarial experience\nDetailed level knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors· \nGood knowledge of actuarial modelling and financial reporting Detailed knowledge of audit tools, techniques and industry best practice\nDetailed level knowledge of the UK Financial Services sector, including regulatory, governance and risk management rules and regulations relevant to financial and non-financial risk\nDetailed knowledge of M&G products, systems and distribution methods\nPersonal attributes:\nAbility to build relationships with and understand the business whilst retaining complete independence as an auditor\nStrong personal presence and resilience\nWhat we offer:\nWe’re dedicated to supporting your wellbeing and helping you thrive, both at work and beyond.
