Reporting to the VP of our People Operations team, our ideal candidate has the right experience and is passionate about leading payroll operations, building great teams, leveraging and enhancing technology, developing scalable and compliant processes, designing amazing employee experiences, and developing project plans to ensure strong delivery.\nIN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:\nLead the design and implementation of the strategy, plan, and roadmap to build a world-class payroll function that supports MGT’s strategic growth plan.\nManage a team that oversees the full life cycle payroll function and ensures timely and accurate bi-weekly payroll processing and post-payroll activities. Respond to and address routine, day-to-day payroll-and compliance-related inquiries, providing world-class service.\nLead annual activities, including audits, compensation reviews, year-end reporting, and open enrollment.\nOversee international payroll operations, including management of local payroll vendors and compliance with country-specific payroll, tax, and statutory requirements.\nManage all payroll due diligence, third-party integration activities, and payroll vendor relationships.\nDefine, design, maintain, and enhance payroll and related HR technologies. Serve as a payroll systems subject matter expert, enabling more productive and value-driven use of the platform with a focus on improving employee experience.\nAssess and deploy a new payroll system for 2026 and introduce new processes and capabilities in partnership with business leaders as new functionality is introduced.\nServe as the payroll subject matter expert during the due diligence and combination phases supporting MGT’s inorganic growth plan.\nDesign and implement payroll policies and procedures to support our organization's growth and development.\nEnsure compliance with company policies and practices and with federal, state, and local employment laws, including timely tax filings, registrations, and reporting to federal, state, and local agencies. Stay current with changes in employment laws and regulations and ensure compliance with those changes.\nIdentify and implement process improvements based on trends, best practices, and payroll regulations. Lead process improvement initiatives. Establish and maintain open communication channels to solicit employee feedback on payroll-related matters. Act as a liaison between employees and management to ensure employee concerns are addressed effectively.\nProvide consultation, guidance, and support in all matters related to payroll operations, HR technologies, and payroll compliance.\nDevelop and analyze appropriate payroll and system metrics, data, SLAs, and trends to meet management information needs.\nLead or contribute to other HR-related duties, projects, and initiatives involving the HR lifecycle, HR technology implementations, process improvements, and compliance audits.\nWHAT YOU’LL BRING:\nBachelor’s degree in human resources management, finance, or a related field.\nSeven (7) or more years of progressive payroll experience, including experience leading a team.\nDemonstrated knowledge of U.S. payroll compliance requirements and state and local payroll tax reporting.\nThree (3) or more years of project management and solution delivery experience, with the ability to plan and lead complex initiatives.\nExperience with multi-state payroll operations and payroll system administration.\nProven ability to improve payroll processes and employee experiences through hands-on, detail-oriented leadership.\nStrong analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize disparate information into clear, actionable reports and recommendations.\nExcellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.\nAbility to work independently in a virtual, fast-paced, entrepreneurial, diverse, and dynamic environment.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nSeven (7) or more years of progressive experience within payroll, benefits, and/or Human Resources.\nExperience in a professional services or hyper growth environment strongly preferred.\nCPP, NACPB, SHRM-CP/SCP and/or PHR/SPHR Certifications preferred.\nExperience supporting organizations through acquisitions and integration.\nExperience with Dayforce HRIS preferred.\nExperience supporting payroll operations outside the United States, including coordination with local
