As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects.\nWhat We're Looking For:\nMichael Baker International is seeking a Construction Field Engineer to support transportation infrastructure projects throughout PennDOT District 8. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of highway, bridge, roadway, and transportation construction projects by providing field support, construction oversight, documentation, quality assurance, and coordination services. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside contractors, PennDOT representatives, and project teams to help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards and specifications.\nWhat You'll Do:\nAssist with the administration and inspection of transportation construction projects involving highways, bridges, roadways, intersections, and related infrastructure.\nMonitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, PennDOT standards, and contract requirements.\nPerform field observations and verify quantities for completed work.\nReview construction schedules and monitor project progress.\nPrepare daily reports, project documentation, and construction records.\nCoordinate with contractors, PennDOT representatives, utility companies, and project stakeholders.\nAssist with requests for information (RFIs), change orders, and field issue resolution.\nSupport quality assurance and quality control efforts, including material testing and documentation review.\nParticipate in project meetings and communicate construction updates to project team members.\nMonitor job site safety practices and report potential safety concerns.\nUtilize engineering software and project management tools to track project activities and documentation.\nTravel to project sites throughout PennDOT District 8 as required.\nWhat You Need to Succeed:\nBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering field, preferred, not required.\n2+ years of experience supporting transportation, highway, bridge, roadway, or civil infrastructure projects.\nUnderstanding of construction methods, engineering principles, and field documentation practices.\nAbility to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.\nExperience working on PennDOT transportation projects.\nCompensation\nThe approximate compensation range for this position is $65,281 - $110,769. This compensation range is a good-faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
